As a Mental Health Director, you will assist in the care for a very diverse population of members of the World Trade Center (WTC) Health Program enrolled at our William Street Clinic (WSC). This is a multifaceted role that is highly rewarding as your work is helping people live healthier lives. The Mental Health Director is responsible for clinical and administrative oversight for adherence to monitoring protocols and medical necessity for all rendered mental health diagnostic and treatment (including education) provided at the WSC. This includes both overseeing and delivering treatment using evidence-based therapeutic intervention to patients with various behavioral health and psychological conditions to include all levels of acuity.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • As a Mental Health Director you will provide mental health care services
  • Examine, diagnose, and treat patients with mental health conditions
  • Counsel and educate patients and families about conditions and concerns
  • Formulate diagnostic and treatment plans
  • Coordination of care with specialists and appropriate ancillary services
  • Completes all clinical and administrative documentation and paperwork in a timely manner
  • Gather complex clinical information, coverage policy and criteria information and work within regulatory guidelines to assist with coverage determinations
  • Participate in and opine on cases presented in multi-disciplinary case rounds
  • Develop policy materials and guide implementation of clinical policy across operations
  • Provide subject matter expertise and input for policy development in support of the WTC Health Program
  • Lead the provision of mental health services both in clinic and via Telehealth
  • Perform all duties and functions in compliance with state and federal laws and regulations
  • Demonstrate ability to maintain productive working relationships with team members, other internal and external customers, and management team

Required Qualifications:

  • Licensed Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner
  • Active and unrestricted New York License
  • 5+ years of clinical experience
  • Experience using online clinical references and accessing professional (clinical and regulatory) internet sites
  • Experience working with onscreen document images
  • Computer and typing proficiency, including MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
  • Able to prescribe medications and provide care without supervision
  • Full COVID-19 vaccination is an essential job function of this role. Candidates located in states that mandate COVID-19 booster doses must also comply with those state requirements.   • Managed Care background
  • Experience in Coverage Determinations (prior authorization)
  • Proven excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills

New York Residents Only: The salary range for New York residents is $85,000 to $167,300. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
