Primary Responsibilities:

  • Research, analyze data, present results, and recommend intelligent solutions to solve problems, address business challenges, and make strategic decisions supported by data to a broad audience including legal and appeals teams.
  • Write SQL queries, create end-user reports, and apply varying analytical techniques to solve specific out-of-network (OON) business problems
  • Perform data validation, troubleshooting, quality checking, and usability analyses to identify anomalies, which need to be addressed prior to delivery of OON analytic results
  • Develop, implement, and revise existing OON analyses. Interpret business rules, as well as state and federal laws, to apply via formula or code, and automate solutions where practical to do so
  • Influence pricing strategies around out of network reimbursement decisions
  • Provide consultative feedback on use of data as subject matter expert and interpret/summarize analytical findings

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 3+ years of experience or proven subject matter expert working as an analyst, preferably with medical claims, eligibility, and provider data
  • 2+ years of experience in Tableau or related BI Software, creating dynamic dashboards
  • Experience working with large data repositories and/or relational databases
  • Experience in data mining, statistical analysis, and data transformation/manipulation
  • Intermediate to Advanced knowledge of Structured Query Language (SQL) with the ability to learn/adapt to new analytic toolsets
  • Advanced level of proficiency in MS Excel using formulas, PivotTables, linked worksheets, graphing and other reporting and presentation features

  • Highly self-motivated and directed with keen attention to detail
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to troubleshoot technical and functional problems

Colorado, Connecticut or Nevada Residents Only: The Salary rang e for Colorado residents is $82,100 to $146,900. The Salary range for Connecticut/Nevada residents is $90,500 to $161,600. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
