WellMed provides concierge - level medical care and service for seniors, delivered by physicians and clinic staff that understand and care about the patient’s health. WellMed’s proactive approach focuses on prevention and the complete coordination of care for patients. WellMed is now part of the Optum division under the greater UnitedHealth Group umbrella.

As the Respiratory Therapist, you will work under the direct supervision of the Supervisor, and will be primarily responsible for the management of respiratory patients and their home medical equipment needs.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • The RT ensures the delivery and set-up of DME equipment, responsible for training of patient / caregiver regarding equipment use
  • Clinical management of clinical respiratory patients
  • Completes all clinical documentation including clinical notes, patient care plans and all associated documentation in a complete and timely manner
  • Communicates effectively and efficiently with physicians and healthcare providers to facilitate healthcare delivery
  • Participates in marketing efforts
  • Adheres to OSHA guidelines and infection control procedures regarding blood borne pathogens

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent or highter
  • Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) or Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
  • BLS certified or willing to be certified within 30 days of employment
  • Willing to participate in on-call rotation
  • Demonstrate knowledge of or ability to learn and apply to job functions, those state, and federal regulations applicable to the operating unit as well as clinical competence and superior knowledge of medical equipment and clinical protocols
  • This position requires Tuberculosis screening as well as proof of immunity to Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Tetanus, Diptheria, and Pertussis through lab confirmation of immunity, documented evidence of vaccination, or a doctor's diagnosis of disease
  • Full COVID-19 vaccination is an essential job function of this role. Candidates located in states that mandate COVID-19 booster doses must also comply with those state requirements. UnitedHealth Group will adhere to all federal, state and local regulations as well as all client requirements and will obtain necessary proof of vaccination, and boosters when applicable, prior to employment to ensure compliance. Preferred Qualifications:

  • Texas state license to practice respiratory care
  • Home health experience
  • Bilingual/Spanish
