Summary:

  • The Patient Services Manager oversees the food service operation for all patient care areas of the hospital, including the assembly and delivery of patient meals, snacks, supplements, and food supplies to patient care areas outside of the meal service periods. In collaboration with the Clinical Nutrition Manager and Executive Chef, provides input on therapeutic diet compliance, patient meal and cafeteria menu development, as well as partnering on the management of the food service software program.

Responsibilities:

  • Plans, organizes, and directs the work of supervisors and patient services team members engaged in the storage, preparation, and serving of food for the hospital’s patients.Reviews and evaluates existing operational methods and procedures of the Food and Nutrition Services program for effectiveness and efficiency to ensure compliance with all city, state and federal regulatory standards and requirements including TJC, DOH and CMS.Establishes policies and procedures that support the delivery of patient food services and effectively communicates to all stake holders.Focuses on the patient experience by routinely monitoring patient satisfaction scores and communicates the data routinely at huddle and staff meetings. Prioritizes and implements strategies to improve quality, food temperature and server courtesy scores.Implements and maintains a measurable, results oriented Quality Assurance Program that provides optimal patient service and safety, and meets the standards of the hospital. Effectively makes adjustments to staffing and work patterns for the patient services team in response to benchmark performance metrics.Partners with the Executive Chef and Clinical Nutrition Manager in menu development to drive patient satisfaction scores, monitors tray delivery parameters and adjusts processes to minimize performance outliers. Develops and completes all on- boarding training for new hires.Maintains a clean and safe working environment by overseeing the sanitation and safety surveillance of the department.Maintains nutrition staff schedules and oversees the payroll approval process for all patient tray delivery personnel

Credentials:

Education or Equivalent Experience:

  • Bachelor of Arts or Science required in Nutrition/Food Service or related field.
  • 5+ years Nutrition/Food Service or related field required.
  • Registered Dietitian preferred.
