Are you an SLP looking to work in a Rehab setting? SLPs treat an extremely diverse patient population where they provide 1 on 1 care to patients. Many of our clinicians hold specialties so there is a wealth of knowledge to be gained as a new graduate. This position will be transitioning to Encompass Health later this year and it part-time (16-hours weekly) Mon-Fri.

Missouri Baptist Medical Center, an acute care hospital in St. Louis County, offers a full continuum of medical and surgical services, including heart care, cancer, women and infants, breast health, gastrointestinal, orthopedic, stroke, therapy, wound and pain management services. The hospital has a 24-hour adult emergency department and cares for pediatric patients at a separate emergency department in collaboration with St. Louis Children’s Hospital.

Our Speech Therapy Department includes two full-time, and three PRN speech-language pathologists. On the acute inpatient units, the focus is on diagnostic procedures including modified barium swallow studies and fiber optic endoscopic evaluation of swallowing (FEES).? On the inpatient rehabilitation and outpatient units, diagnostic and treatment focus is more diverse and includes intervention for disorders: voice, speech, language, cognitive and swallowing. Other areas of emphasis are coordinated services between Respiratory and Speech Therapy for patients on mechanical ventilated support and neurological patients undergoing rehabilitation.
The Registered Speech Pathologist or Speech Therapist provides skilled speech and swallow therapy services to patients including all aspects of evaluation and treatment.
ResponsibilitiesEstablishes treatment plan and provides treatment, considering discharge needs; expected discharge functional status; and appropriate equipment and supplies.Educates, collaborates with, and conferences with patients, families, and other health care providers; making recommendations for referrals to specialists as needed.Delegates to assistants, techs, and students through written and verbal communication including determining the skill level or competency required to provide interventions to best meet the needs of the patient.Completes documentation in accordance with departmental policies.Provides assessment, reassessment, and/or consultations for Speech Services.
