As a part of the Optum tri-state, Pro Health NY is seeking a Laboratory Accesioner to join our growing team. At Optum, we are transforming healthcare nationally while providing physician-led care locally.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Under close supervision, acquires job skills and learns company policies and procedures to complete routine tasks
- Works on assignments that are routine in nature, requiring limited judgment, Has little or no role in decision-making
- Assist with various projects as assigned by direct supervisor
- Accession specimens according to the types of requisition received (manual or electronically)
- Check patient’s name on the specimens and on the requisition to ensure that the patient identification matches
- Enter all pertinent patient information into the system, all tests requested/ordered, and any relevant comments
- Disinfecting his/her own work station
- Separate specimens to the appropriate laboratory department
- Deliver specimens to the appropriate laboratory departments
- Follow all federal. State and laboratory safety regulations
- Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma
- Ability to follow precise directions in situation requiring speed, accuracy and efficiency
Preferred Qualifications:
- 1+ years of laboratory related experience
- Proven knowledge of medical lab and specimen processing
- Demonstrated good verbal communication skills
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time efficiently
