Position: Operator Mechanic Technician

Location: Humacao

Key Responsibilities

1.Operates, monitors, and feeds any of the following equipment to manufacture pharmaceutical solid dosage productfollowing product specifications, cGMP and SOPs: Dispensing, Granulator (wet and dry granulations), Tableting,Film Coater, Encapsulation, and Printing machines.


2.Assures that all manufacturing documentation related to operation, cleaning are completed as required bymanufacturing instructions.


3.Responsible to perform changeover & set-ups to all process equipment and to assist engineering/ maintenance staffto perform troubleshooting of defective manufacturing equipment indicating parts to be replaced and/or to berepaired.


4.Responsible for verification and installation of electric, electronic, pneumatic or mechanical parts physical condition,of critical equipment assemblies (wet granulation, compression, roller compactor, capsule filling), and start ofequipment after cleaning activities are executed for all processing centers.


5.Receives all ingredients (active and inactive) for dispensing to be used in the formulation of a drug product followingestablished procedures assuring production materials availability.


6.Cleans and sanitizes rooms (manufacturing room and wash room), dust collectors, storage containers (bins orvessels), and process equipment according to standard operating procedures.


7.Serves as an SME in at least one technology.


8.Responsible to qualify/train others in equipment assembly and setup.


9.Analyzes equipment problems on the specified technologies and perform troubleshoot equipment and/or processrelated issues and provides recommendations for improvement.


10.Operates forklift for materials and equipment movement.

Qualifications & Experience

▪ Technical degree or Associate degree in a technical field

▪ Five (5) years’ experience in cGMP environment, preferable with 2 years of experience in mechanical, electronic, instrumental work in the industry.

▪ Operation excellence certification (yellow belt, green belt, lean or six sigma) is a plus

▪ Certification by pharmaceutical equipment manufacturer (Fette, GEA, Glatt, Thomas Engineering, Bosch, Alexanderwerks) is a plus

▪ Previous experience with usage of Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) such as Maximo is a plus

▪ Certification as train the trainer for pharmaceutical processing is a plus

▪ Excellent Mathematical Skills

▪ Strong knowledge in the installation, repairs and troubleshooting of mechanical, electrical, and computerized equipment.

▪ Knowledge in computers and/or Electronic Batch Records

▪ Valid Driver’s License

▪ Mechanical Skills and a strong knowledge in the installation, repairs and troubleshooting of mechanical, electronic, and computerized equipment

▪ Basic understanding of Process Equipment set-up and able to perform it repeatedly and according to SOPs.

▪ Basic writing skills and ability to read, write, comprehend detailed technical information and directions in English/Spanish.

▪ Ability to troubleshoot equipment problems and provide resolutions using appropriate problem solving methodology.

▪ Ability to work with minimum supervision.

▪ Ability to provide on the job training.

▪ Ability to apply critical thinking to resolve complex issues.

▪ Ability to read technical equipment manuals (Spanish and English).

▪ Ability to perform detailed tasks and document information.

▪ Leadership, team player and collaborating skills.

▪ Knowledgeable in cGMP’s, process area, documentation, safety, EHS and hygiene practices.

▪ Data entry skills

▪ Willing to work irregular hours, rotate shifts, weekends and holidays
