With the recent acquisition of ConnectYourCare (CYC) Optum Financial now serves 8M+ health benefit accounts and $18B+ in assets across multiple platforms and portals. As part of our Health Benefit Account (HBA) strategy, we will create single consumer and employer experiences, marrying the strength and stability of Optum’s legacy platform with the agility and configurability of the CYC platform. This unified experience will result in a single employer portal and single support team for our employer customers – greatly simplifying how they help their employees manage, save, and pay for the cost of care.

As we bring these businesses and underlying platforms together, we must focus equally on serving our employer customers today and building for the future. As such, we are seeking a Director of Product Management responsible for the end-to-end HBA employer experience, including all employer digital tools.

The Director of Product will be responsible for creating product strategy, product vision and value-based delivery plans focused on every aspect of the HBA employer journey. They will lead/collaborate with various partners on end-to-end product development, from ideation through delivery and optimization. Building relationships to enable clear communication, collaboration, and coordination to realize Optum Financials’ goals will be vital for success. In addition, they will be responsible for client Net Promoter Score (NPS) analysis and action planning.

If you are located in Salt Lake City, UT, Eden Prairie, MN, you will have the flexibility to telecommute*, as well as work in the office as you take on some tough challenges. Fully remote may be considered but preference on the above cities.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Managing a team of Product Mangers focused on employer experience
  • Take a lead role coordinating with Growth, Client Management, and Implementation leadership, and cross-organizational stakeholders, including executive teams, to understand the diverse needs of our clients to clearly define strategic priorities. Translate these strategic priorities into actionable development plans
  • Clearly understand the competitive landscape - competitor strategies, positioning, strengths, and weaknesses
  • Develop a roadmap and guide through the product lifecycle of strategy, metrics alignment, definition/requirements, delivery/development, and go-to-market
  • Provide clear strategic direction to team of Product Managers that lead day-to-day collaboration and decision making with cross-functional agile teams - including architects, developers, scrum master, designers, and key partners
  • Leadership of moderately complex projects across teams in various locations

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance, healthcare administration or related field
  • 6+ years product management experience, preferably with a technology-driven financial services or health care company or comparable entity
  • 2+ years of managing virtual teams
  • Experience working in an employer support environment

Preferred Qualifcations:

  • 2+ years in a client facing role
  • 1+ years of HBA related experience including HSA/FSA/HRA products
  • Experience working with scrum teams in an Agile framework
  • Solid knowledge of Customer-Centric Product Operating Model concepts and practices
  • Solid knowledge of Optum & UnitedHealth Group
  • Demonstrated analytic acumen, ability to leverage data to drive decision making and improve outcomes
  • Proven ability to build relationships cross-functionally and lead teams toward common goals
