The Associate Director- Strategic Business Analysis will report directly to the VP of Product and Strategy Management and is a strategic role that will liaise between all aspects of the Business and the Technology organizations. This position will conduct and manage outcomes of various studies that include analyzing, reviewing, forecasting, trending, and presenting information for operational and business planning. They support short and long term operational/strategic business activities - by developing, enhancing and maintaining operational information and models. They also develop and implement effective/strategic business solutions through research and analysis of data and business processes. The ideal candidate can:

  • Translate between business and developer speak and can help lead to a next-generation payment processing platform
  • Develops functional, market level, and/or site strategy, plans, production and/or organizational priorities
  • Identifies and resolves technical, operational, and organizational problems outside own team

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Participate in cross-functional innovation sessions, design discussions and showcases to build new services, redesign processes, and solve business problems
  • Demonstrate and apply understanding of health care industry trends and their drivers
  • Maintain awareness of best practices/approaches related to the business analysis discipline (e.g., Business Analysis Body of Knowledge)
  • Define the approach and effort required for defining business requirements (i.e., business, functional and non-functional)
  • Conduct current state analysis to gather current business, functional and non-functional requirements and constraints (i.e., "as-is" state)
  • Develop business context diagrams (e.g., business data flows, process flows) to analyze/confirm the definition of project requirements
  • Identify the business impact of system/application changes, using appropriate tools as needed (e.g., impact analysis, FMEA, risk analysis)
  • Identify capability gaps between current state and desired state (e.g., system capacity, emerging technologies)
  • Participate in reviews of conceptual designs and provide appropriate guidance/consulting to help ensure that they satisfy all documented requirements (i.e., business, functional and non-functional)
  • Partner with applicable stakeholders to identify the operational impact of changes within defined solutions (e.g., changes to policies/processes/procedures, compliance with applicable legal/regulatory requirements, additional requirements)

Required Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of experience as business analyst or product owner
  • Experience in healthcare payment or remittance data services

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline
  • Experience building and launching software products and services
  • Experience with transformation or modernization projects
  • Systems analyst with general knowledge of application design and development, database applications and network architecture

Colorado, Connecticut, Nevada, or New York City Residents Only: The salary range for Colorado residents is $97,300 to $176,900. The salary range for Connecticut/Nevada/New York City residents is $97,300 to $176,900. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
