Job Functions:

  • To provide leadership and strategic direction in the areas of planning, scheduling, and inventory control, for Devens Large Scale Cell Culture (LSCC), Single Use Facility (SUF) and Cell Bank Manufacturing and Network Planning
  • Assures compliance with policies, procedures, directives, manuals, and work instructions on matters related to Supply Chain Management

Scope of Responsibilities:

  • Customer Service – responsible for maintaining customer relationship with BMS Manati and External Manufacturing (ExM) and for ensuring that BDS filled at Devens is shipped on-time to customers
  • Supply Chain Strategy – Develops and communicates the Global Supply Chain (GSC) Strategy, aligning with Devens and GPS strategies. Development of specific Supply Chain goals and align with other key functions including GSC. Provide leadership and guidance to Devens supply chain organization with the main goals of achieving customer service levels while optimizing BMS end-to-end supply chains
  • As site supply chain lead, represents Devens on the Biologics Integrated Planning Team within Global Supply Planning (GSP)
  • Supply Chain Operations – alignment of operational strategy with business strategy; management of assets, inventory, space and resources to improve customer service and delivery performance in line with corporate objectives; implementation of best practices. Ensures master data maintenance process is properly performed.
  • Supply Chain Planning – Ensure raw material availability to meet manufacturing schedule for LSCC, SUF (both Suite #1 and Suite#2) and Cell Bank Manufacturing Facility
  • Cell Bank Network Strategy & Planning – Accountable to develop and maintain cell bank network strategy for both manufacturing as well as storage diversification to ensure business continuity goals are achieved
  • Risk Management – support the development and implementation of business continuity plans, and develop and implement a supply chain risk and issue management process
  • Prepares and monitors annual budget and projection process. Delivers on commitments with focus on volumes, inventories, and department spending.
  • Develops people in technical, administrative, and interpersonal skills. Provides for leadership development and diversity.
  • Develops procedures and work instructions to ensure compliance with cGMP, internal control, BMS policies and business rules.
  • Implement and monitor supply chain metrics and promote the utilization of supporting management tools (e.g. BI, Spotfire, Tableau) to drive a continuous improvement-based process and enable the delivery of strategies and goals.
  • Drives change creating an environment that encourages continuous improvement
  • Develop others by increasing self-determination and developing competence through personal development planning and coaching as required
  • Participates actively in site Senior Leadership Team to establish site mission, annual goals and desired culture while undertaking supportive actions which build commitment to these values, objectives, and sustained site-wide teamwork.

Required and Desired Competencies

  • Knowledge of supply chain concepts and practices in Biopharmaceutical industry
  • Knowledge of technology, ERP (SAP), materials planning and financial controls
  • Knowledge of international customs & trade, taxation, transfer pricing and cGMP regulatory requirements
  • Working knowledge of personal computer applications
  • Preferred Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Sciences or Engineering. Master’s degree and APICS certification (CSCP/CPIM) desirable
  • 8 to 10 years’ experience in Supply Chain
  • Demonstrated experience in strategic supply chain and supplier relationship management
  • Demonstrated experience in project management and project management techniques and tools
  • Demonstrated competence in managing regulatory changes
  • Strong analytical, communication, critical thinking and problem-solving skills required. Demonstrated ability to frame and build concepts and ideas and develop and execute strategic plans as required
  • Experience in working within a global and culturally diverse organisation; ability to work in a dynamic and flexible environment
  • Demonstrated business acumen and ability to organise and present information to cross-functional audiences and senior leaders
  • Demonstrated ability in performing in a fast paced, changing, and demanding environment
  • Able to present and share ideas through an executive summary of overall status and propose proactive plans for resolution
