Position Summary

The Associate Director for Maintenance Excellence will lead and manage an agile team focused on improving the equipment up time, extending critical asset life, and partnering with our Maintenance and Engineering staff to work efficiently and effectively while contributing to our site continuous improvement program

Major Responsibility

You will be responsible for driving the overarching Maintenance Excellence program, including reliability program, planning, and scheduling, Metrology area and spare part program (MRO). You and your team will educate our associates on the benefits of pursuing best practices and the various roles they can play in supporting this model and focus on the following key elements to ensure Phoenix site becomes a top performer.

Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate, implement, and drive continuous improvement activities aligned with our Maintenance Excellence vision, including maintenance and reliability strategies and asset life cycle communicating progress to stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with OPEX to achieve Total Production Maintenance (TPM).
  • Evaluate the asset life cycle and make recommendations based on the total maintenance cost versus Asset replacement value.
  • Develop an equipment vulnerability plan to ensure a robust and reliable operation.
  • Collaborate with the capital team enhancing equipment selection process considering in advance all aspect of maintenance and reliability.
  • Perform internal Reliability Assessments and create a 3-year Maintenance Master Plan to drive the Engineering operation towards excellence.
  • Implement and monitored Maintenance Key Process Indicators (KPI`s) aligned with Bristol Myers Squibb (BMS) standards and site goals
  • Implement Reliability Centered Maintenance using Failure Modes & Effects Analysis (FMEA) to ensure a robust cost-effective maintenance plan
  • Develop a robust MRO program based on reliability data to achieve zero stockout for critical spare parts.
  • Ensure 100% of GMP Preventive Maintenance (PM) and GMP Calibration are performed on time.
  • Create, Maintain and revise Preventive Maintenance (PM) and Predictivity Maintenance (PdM) instructions for new equipment and existing equipment.
  • Perform PM and Calibration optimization while keeping fully GMP compliance
  • Ensure proper installation procedures and specifications/tolerances are being adhered to and Precision Maintenance practices are being followed.
  • Enhance Planning and Scheduling activities based on workload balance leveraging resources and minimizing overtime.
  • Plan and Coordinate plant shutdown activities.
  • Effectively manages assigned resources to address priorities, meet schedules, maximize productivity, reduce costs, and increase efficiencies.
  • Manage and develop staff, establish a staffing plan that includes adequate competent resourcing, hiring of key technical individuals as needed, and development and succession planning.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Engineering Bachelor’s degree; Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Minimum seven years of experience in a cGMP pharmaceutical, or other life sciences facility.
  • Minimum seven years of previous successful people leadership experience.
  • Experience in implementing Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
  • An understanding of best practices for maintenance processes including Risk Based assessment, Total Productive Maintenance, and Reliability Based Inspections.
  • Demonstrated experience in implementing/Transforming reliability programs using analytical information.
  • Experience supporting site audits from the FDA, EPA, and other regulatory bodies.
  • Demonstrated business and financial acumen with understanding of P&L.
  • Experience Team-building and mentoring others.
