The Optum Communications director will design and implement communication strategies that elevate Optum's reputation, performance, and connections with employees. Specifically, she/he will be responsible for communications within the California market.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Serve as a strategic communication partner, proactively assess and address needs, and develop and implement strategic communications plans, vehicles, media, and messaging
- Partner with senior-level executives to develop and implement executive communication strategies, report regularly on communication progress
- Develop and implement internal communication strategies that improve business performance, connect employees, and reinforce our mission, vision, values, and culture
- Collaborate to develop and implement a modern, dependable communications infrastructure that reduces low-level administrative burden on communicators
- Write and develop content tailored to the specific medium and audience requirements (e.g., emails, articles, talking points, web, video, graphics etc.). Adapt style/tone to meet the needs of the specific message/leader/audience/channel
- Project manage communication campaigns to ensure timely, successful completion and quality results
- Develop content tailored to the specific medium and audience requirements across written, visual, interactive, and auditory formats
- Analyze communications performance, report regularly on status and continuously improve strategy, channels, content, and tactics
- Proactively seek out and promote innovative and creative approaches to communication
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to help define communications needs and preferences

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience (5+ years relevant experience beyond the required years of experience can be substituted in lieu of a bachelor’s degree)
- 10+ years corporate communications experience
- Project management experience and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Experience communicating in multiple media (e.g., print, email, web, video/audio, graphics)
- Proven superb writing skills with the ability to translate strategy, complex topics and technical language into compelling communications for a variety of audiences
- Demonstrated success working with senior executive level clients and stakeholders
- Proven ability to consult with clients to determine requirements, stakeholders, and scope
- Provenbility to work in a fast-paced, complex, often-changing environment
- Demonstrated excellent writing and oral communication skills, ability to persuade and build consensus with stakeholders

California Residents Only: The salary range for California residents is $101,200 to $184,000. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
