Creative Partners is the internal creative team within the enterprise marketing organization at UnitedHealth Group, supporting the Optum, UnitedHealthcare and UnitedHealth Group portfolio of brands. This position is a Creative Director role, leading a creative team supporting UnitedHealth Group, including touchpoints across a broad range of internal and external audiences including brand content, communications, advertising, events, and digital/social media. The ideal candidate knows how to manage people, is as a strategic thought leader, with excellent critical thinking skills and can process, react to and solve problems quickly. The candidate should also have excellent team and relationship building skills and a portfolio representing experience in creative for a large, consumer facing brand.


If you are located in Eden Prairie, you will have the flexibility to work remotely*, as well as work onsite 3 days every week in the office as you take on some tough challenges.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Active team leader and influencer for teams that reports directly and indirectly, mentoring, training, providing feedback, assigning work, monitoring workloads, removing roadblocks and career path navigation
  • Demonstrated ability to not only lead large-scale projects, but also create new, innovative strategic solutions while ensuring brand guidelines are followed and visual and written communication standards are met - while still pushing the brand forward
  • High level of conceptualization and implementation of creative solutions that meet communication, marketing and content strategies from concept to completion
  • Possesses the unique ability to elevate creative solutions to reach strategic business objectives and mentors others on this skill
  • Independent leader that actively pursues new ways of doing things and stays on the leading edge of new technologies and creative trends
  • Possess solid conceptual skills, high level sense of design, copy, layout and typography, and a broad thinker who can offer a variety of creative solutions
  • Interpret and present complicated concepts in a visually appealing and clear manner
  • Develop solid relationships with our communications, marketing and business partners to ensure final creative solution meets project’s goal and be the point of contact to problem solve and defuse situations when challenges arise

Required Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of creative, design, copy or brand experience
  • 7+ years of experience managing creative teams including hiring, termination and performance evaluations
  • Stakeholder/client relationship management experience
  • Experience influencing C Suite leaders
  • Internal/external communications and branded content experience
  • Portfolio link atop resume demonstrating high-quality, multi-channel creative deliverables and capabilities
  • Demonstrated desire and ability to work onsite in Eden Prairie a minimum of every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday
  • Demonstrated ability to clarify, manage and prioritize several deliverables


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Visual Arts, or Design
  • Expert knowledge in creative production process
  • Knowledge of Microsoft applications including Word and Outlook
  • Proven team player and able to work across multi-functional teams
  • Demonstrated passion to learn, innovate, inspire
  • Proven emotional intelligence
  • Proven effective verbal, written, interpersonal communication skills and attention to detail
  • Proven effective leadership and process/problem resolution skills
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate multiple projects and prioritize workload within a fast-paced environment
