Position in this function leads, plans, organizes, and directs Supply Chain and Procurement Management functions and activities for AHN, part of Optum Care. Develops goals and objectives, establishes standards of performance and productivity for the department. Effects changes as needed to improve services, identifying cost savings opportunities, driving change and implementing industry best practices to support a best-in-class Enterprise Procurement function.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Ability to align with stakeholder objectives to develop and execute a category strategy
  • Develop intimate knowledge of key stakeholder business needs to create such strategies along with best-in-class sourcing and partnership practices
  • Deliver cost savings, risk mitigation, process improvement, and cost avoidance projects
  • Support supplier relationships and interface with business unit’s leaders for resolution as needed
  • Maintain active compliance with EOHS, PH&S, Legal, Operations, and Supply Chain
  • Work alongside global procurement professionals to manage the deployment of various spend category strategies that aligns with corporate and business unit objectives, risk tolerances, and growth strategies
  • Be a liaison between clinics, vendors, accounts payable, and other internal teams
  • Leverage Group Purchasing Organization (GPO) purchasing power to maximize cost effectiveness
  • Prepare and review accurate value analysis reports for supplies and contracted services
  • Effectively communicate with all levels of business unit stakeholders ensuring ongoing communications on project/initiative status, and yearly budget savings objectives
  • Support negotiation, review, and management of supplier contracts ensuring optimal level of costs, services, and risk management/reduction, are achieved, and maintained
  • Consistently exhibit behavior and communication skills that demonstrate commitment to superior customer service, including quality, care and concern with each and every internal and external customer
  • Perform all other job duties as directed by the supervisor or manager

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in purchasing, supply chain, business and/or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of experience in the procurement of materials, supplies, and equipment
  • 3+ years of supervisory/management experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in non-acute healthcare field

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities:

  • Demonstrate understanding of contract management process, terms and conditions, and corporate policies
  • Experience in managing internal stakeholders and a record of success in supply chain transformation and change management
  • Highly effective communicator, both verbally and in writing, with ability to work with C-level and senior management with professionalism and discretion
  • Team player, with courage of conviction. Must be able to partner effectively with the key leadership across the company
  • Operate independently and be able to drive a project to success with little oversight
  • High energy, hard worker, with outstanding business and personal ethics
  • Develop good working relationships with operational staff and medical providers
  • Experience with Procure to Pay systems

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced office environment
