Position Summary:

The Manager / Sr. Manager, Planner/Buyer will be primary responsible for materials planning and ordering requirements for the Devens Manufacturing facilities. The Planner/Buyer will execute materials planning, ordering and coordination of material release requirements in support of production and tech transfers into Devens. The Planner/Buyer will collaborate regularly with highly cross-functional teams including Manufacturing, Manufacturing Technology, Site Quality, Warehouse and Site Procurement to ensure the appropriate parts are specified and available to support the manufacturing campaigns.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyzes material inventory and accountable for maintaining sufficient safety stocks and inventory projection for the materials in support of Devens Manufacturing Facilities.

  • Provides input into weekly material priorities with site representatives from Manufacturing, Quality Assurance, Quality Control, Technical Operations and Warehouse.

  • Accountable for creating Purchase Requisitions and Purchase Orders in SAP, placing orders with suppliers and expedite deliveries as needed.

  • Reviews, prioritizes and schedules the delivery of raw materials & consumables to meet target dates and prevent stock shortages.

  • Collaborates with partner departments to ensure material availability in alignment with manufacturing schedule.

  • Assesses material risk and collaborates with site and network cross-functional teams for proposed mitigations. Escalates to management and key stakeholders with proposed mitigation strategies as required.

  • Supports plant quality systems (Change controls, Deviations, assessments and CAPA) for material related issues if required.

  • Participate in projects (e.g., tech transfers, SAP improvements) and lead continuous improvement activities to positively impact key performance metrics.

  • Maintain relevant master data and assists in site SAP support as required. Assists in developing the forecast, review with procurement to share with vendor.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • B.S. in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain Management or science-related discipline.

  • A minimum of 6-8 years in a Supply Chain or Manufacturing role in a complex manufacturing environment with experience in production control/process orders/equivalent.

  • Experience and knowledge in Biologics manufacturing is preferred.

  • Experience in new product introduction strongly preferred.

  • Excellent knowledge in SAP strongly preferred.

  • Customer service mentality and attention to detail are essential elements for success.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities against ambitious timelines.
