Barnes-Jewish St. Peters Hospital proudly serves the health care needs of families in St. Charles, Lincoln and Warren counties. The 102-bed community hospital provides comprehensive inpatient and outpatient services including the Siteman Cancer Center at Barnes-Jewish St. Peters Hospital, the Breast Health and Women’s Center, the Cardiology Center, the Neurosurgery Center and the Outpatient Surgery and Endoscopy Center.
Barnes-Jewish St. Peters Hospital is an Accredited Chest Pain Center and carries a Level II stroke certification. Additionally, the hospital’s medical office building houses offices for specialists in primary care, cardiology, obstetrics, dermatology, surgery and pulmonology. Barnes-Jewish St. Peters Hospital also offers outpatient services including physical therapy, a sleep lab, and cardio-pulmonary rehabilitation.
At Barnes-Jewish St. Peters Hospital, every decision is made in the best interest of patients and families. The Cardiac Rehab department includes both inpatient and outpatient services for Cardiac and Cardiopulmonary to include exercise and education

Role Purpose
In the Cardiac/Interventional Radiology/Neuro Interventional suite, the RN provides direct patient care activities including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation with the guidelines of the standards of nursing care to critical patients who require a high level of clinical expertise. These RNs demonstrate competency and maintain ongoing education as required by regulatory agencies in support of disease specific certifications or time critical diagnosis response expectations including the American College of Surgeons (ACOS), the Joint Commission (TJC) and the Department of Health and Senior Services (DHSS) for Level II Stroke Centers and Level II Stemi Centers. Additionally, must demonstrate competency in providing autonomous, one on one monitoring and support while administering sedation as directed by the credentialed provider during procedures. Assumes care of and maintains standard care for critical care (ICU) patients while in the procedure setting.
Responsibilities
Provides care to acutely and critically ill patients in a highly technical and ongoing monitoring environment. These patients are facing life-threatening problems with varying needs, which require extensive medication protocols and therapies. Educates patients and their families on disease process, management of illness/injury/treatment, support resources, infection prevention techniques, and essential daily tasks to prepare for next transition of care.Demonstrates competency in evaluating intensive care patients, administering care, recognizing complications and coordinating with other members of the critical care team. Strives for excellence in patient care; keeps patients safe from adverse events. Seeks learning and teaching opportunities in an effort to further develop and perfect skills and improve overall quality of care. Participates in activities that promote patient safety, quality and regulatory compliance.� Participates in professional development.Develops, implements, and revises individual plans of care in collaboration with other members of the healthcare team in accordance with the established guidelines and standards of nursing care.Strives for excellence in patient care; keeps patients safe from adverse events. Seeks learning and teaching opportunities in an effort to further develop and perfect skills and improve overall quality of care. Participates in activities that promote safety, quality and regulatory compliance.� Participates in professional development and life long learning.Evaluates patient's response to complex critical treatment modalities and modifies plan of care accordingly throughout the patient's stay. Demonstrates expertise and critical thinking skills to assess and evaluate patients/family's physical, psychosocial and emotional needs Demonstrates ability to promote positive interpersonal relationships in the procedural environment.BJC has determined this is a safety-sensitive position.
