EMS Educator
Gundersen Health System has a leadership opportunity for an experienced EMS Educator to join our growing service in Southwest Wisconsin. This position serves as a liaison between Gundersen Ambulance Services, the Patient Coordination Hub and local EMS services providing education and quality improvement work for EMTs and paramedics across our system.
Job Description:
Develop and provide educational programs related to pre-hospital EMS and communications to Tri-State Ambulance (TSA), Gundersen Health System Ambulance (GHSA), and Gundersen Health Patient Coordination Hub (PCH). Participate in Continuous Quality Improvement and Research related to EMS and medical communications
Major Responsibilities:
- Promotes positive relationships and serves as a role model for regional health professionals, public, and prehospital sector via educational programs.
- Function as an educator for programs relating to EMS for ambulance and medical center staff as well as non-affiliated regional prehospital providers under Gundersen medical direction.
- Participates in the development of standards of care and equipment for regional EMS prehospital providers.
- Assess EMS educational background of new prehospital employees in determining learning need
- Assists with the coordination of clinical education for prehospital personnel
- Assists with planning and implementing Quality Improvement programs for prehospital personnel.
- Assists EMS Clinical Manager with departmental education for TSA/GHSA/PCH
- Function as a liaison between external agencies and the Medical Director.

Education and Learning:
REQUIRED
- Associate degree + additional EMS education

- Nationally Registered Paramedic
- Registered Nurse with Emergency Medical Technician – EMT certification
Work Experience:
REQUIRED
Greater than or equal to 5 years of relevant experience to include a combination of paramedic, advanced life support educator, and EMS education experience.
DESIRED
8+ years of relevant experience to include a combination of paramedic, advanced life support educator, and EMS education experience.
License and Certification Required: Nationally registered Paramedic OR Registered Nurse with Emergency Medical Technician – EMT
