Preferred Qualifications

Role Purpose

The Sterile Processing Technician performs a variety of central sterile processing functions, which include the decontamination, preparation, sterilization and distribution of sterile surgical instrumentation to the operating room (OR) and other areas throughout the hospital. Required to maintain and control both sterile and non-sterile supplies, and identify and remedy equipment and process failures and hazards while maintaining the appropriate and complete records.

Responsibilities

Assembles and processes instruments sets, trays, supplies and linen; prioritizes trays and tasks according to the surgery schedule.Utilizes and troubleshoots steam sterilizers.Follows proper techniques and procedures to ensure the integrity of the sterilization process.Disassembles, decontaminates, and processes instrumentation according to manufacturer and industry standards.Ensures instrumentation is reassembled correctly and functioning properly.
