Job Description

The company's Early Discovery Genetics Human Genetic Validation (EDG-HGV) team within the Department of Genome and Biomarker Sciences (GBS) works with multiple therapeutic areas (Cardiometabolic, Ophthalmology, Immunology and Neuroscience) to identify and validate new targets based on Human Genetics. Our mission is to identify and validate human genetic targets and to develop and apply improved human model systems to better understand each target’s mechanism of action. Our group utilizes genetic (CRISPR and siRNA) and pharmacological manipulations of human induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC) model systems to validate the role of targets in mechanisms related to pathobiology of human diseases.

The company's EDG-HGV group is seeking a passionate and dedicated experimental biologist to join our team as a Senior Scientist. The Senior Scientist will create innovative spheroid and organoid models from healthy and diseased human iPSC lines and establish functional assays to validate human genetic targets. In close collaboration with GBS and therapeutic area colleagues, the successful candidate will develop robust and scalable organoid protocols, implement genome editing and multi-omics methods to evaluate organoids, and develop imaging-based protocols for studying pharmacological responses with diseased organoids. You will be part of a dynamic and challenging early discovery research environment that is based at our Research Labs in Boston, MA. In this role, you will develop in-vitro stable and iPSC-derived organoid models for different human diseases. The Senior Scientist will report into the HGV team lead within EDG and will be expected to work both independently and collaboratively with colleagues.

The responsibilities of this Senior Scientist role include but are not limited to:

  • Formulate and execute on validating studies of Human Genetic targets anchored in collaboration with experimental scientists within and outside GBS.

  • Previous experience working in drug discovery projects

  • Experience in the field of Neuro/Psychiatric, Cardiometabolism or Immunology.
