Managing Assistant Director, Benefits Unit

Two Positions

The Office of Human Resources is seeking two managers to join its Benefits Unit. Under the direction of the Associate Director of Benefits, both Managing Assistant Director positions are responsible for managing key aspects of benefits and wellness for the Kean community.

The Managing Assistant Director of Benefits position (Managing Assistant Director 2), is responsible for managing benefits processes and providing leadership and technical assistance in the administration of benefits. The Managing Assistant Director of Benefits oversees the administration of medical and retirement plans; conducts regular benefits audits; manages projects and initiatives; supervises a team of benefits employees; and does related work as required.

The Managing Assistant Director of Benefits and Wellness position (Managing Assistant Director 2), leads the University’s employee wellness initiative and manages all benefits workplace events. The Managing Assistant Director creates programming and implements strategies to promote employee well-being and engagement. The Managing Assistant Director provides programmatic support, including creating promotional materials, tracking program participation rates and outcomes; oversees communication strategies, which may include web presence and various university platforms; and does related work as required. This position requires the ability to move and lift materials up to 35 lbs. for events and perform set-up and breakdown.

Both positions may require travel and a flexible schedule including evening and weekend hours on occasion.

Qualifications: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college and two years of professional experience in human resources in higher education, a business environment or a related field is required. A Master's degree; HR related training or certification; and at least three or more years of experience as an HR manager is preferred. For the wellness position, two years of event planning experience can be substituted for the HR experience. Candidates must have proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, Google products and HRIS. Workday experience is a plus. Excellent customer service skills and oral and written communication skills are essential.
