Multinational Regional Manager, Commercial Insurance
Multinational Commercial Insurance Regional Manager - Midwest
We are looking for a strategic and dynamic Multinational Regional leader to drive profit, growth, and talent development of our $37M Regional Multinational book of Commercial Insurance P&C business. This is a critical leadership role in the region with 6 direct reports. The Multinational book represents a key business segment with significant growth potential with a diverse group of distribution partners and business mix.
Responsibilities:
The Multinational Commercial Insurance Regional Manager is responsible for the profit, growth, distribution, and sales management of the Multinational commercial book of business. This leadership position manages 6 underwriters, including one Multinational Specialist. Critical priorities for this role include underwriting guidance/expertise, staff development, performance management, marketing and agency relationships and sales and marketing acumen development. Specific responsibilities include:
Profit and Growth:
- Accountability for total premium, retention, profitability and expense management.
- Execution of underwriting strategies for new and renewal business including catastrophe management.
- Oversight of underwriting excellence throughout the department to ensure adherence to strategy, authority and the achievement of satisfactory audit results.
- Management of underwriting referral process, enterprise process and coordination of accounts that fall outside of branch authority.
Sales and Distribution:
- Assessment of the territory and identification of opportunities across all CI segments based on the industries represented in the region.
- New Business Pipeline development and management through the targeted use of CI tools (PROV1, CI Prime, Tracker)
- Development of sales and marketing strategies to ensure effective positioning of CI products and services.
- Collaboration with the Branch Manager and Marketing Manager to strategically and effectively leverage producer relationships.
- Primary responsibility for producer management, marketplace visibility, effective travel and coordination with remote resources for the CI team.
- Coordination and execution of customer focus through stewardship and direct customer engagement.
Staff Development and Leadership:
- Responsible for a team comprised of 6 direct reports.
- Accountability for the performance management process for all staff including timely performance reviews, compensation planning and implementation, development planning and performance management as needed.
- In coordination with HR, accountability for developing a pipeline of talent to fill anticipated and unexpected vacancies
- Consistent coaching, career counseling and skill development for all CI staff
- Accountability for perpetuating a positive, collaborative and diverse work environment
Qualifications and Competencies:
- 5-10 years of insurance industry experience
- Knowledge of Controlled Master Programs and international casualty underwriting principles highly desirable.
- Experience with managing field distribution (broker, regional, independent agents, aggregators)
- Exceptional leadership and people management skills
- Strong technical/underwriting experience and background
- Marketing/sales skills and demonstrated ability to build strategic relationships
- Demonstrated ability to balance multiple tasks and priorities with flexibility and adaptability
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Demonstrated commitment to collaboration and teamwork
