What you’ll be doing...

The security consultant supports the VBG business unit in the review and response of compliance requirements associated with Public Sector bids and capture efforts on government and SLED security bids. The capture review process will include providing support and interpretation of the federal Risk Management Framework (RMF) requirements to include FISMA/FedRAMP compliance, andthe review of State IT compliance efforts.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the security compliance activities of the sales capture process and aid in the development of custom proposals that require compliance with Government security requirements.
  • Supporting the solution architecture team to develop the compliant architecture and ensuring the supportability and sustainability of the Solution and minimize risk to Verizon.
  • Supporting the bid review process and assist legal in reviewing the compliance of all bids generated within Public Sector.
  • Supporting Verizon Product for meeting FISMA and DOD compliance for Verizon Products and Services.

What we’re looking for...

You will need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Four or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Eligibility to obtain and maintain a security clearance.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • A Master’s Degree in engineering, cybersecurity.
  • Possess (or ability to obtain) a Certified Information System Security Professional (CISSP) certification.
  • Ability to obtain a CompTIA Security+, or relevant security vendor certifications (i.e. Cisco, Splunk, Arcsight).
  • Writing and communications skills.
  • Knowledge of FISMA/FedRAMP, CNSSI 1253, NIST and DOD RMF, the NIST Cybersecurity Framework, CJIS, HIPAA, and Security standards and compliance.
  • Experience supporting Assessment and Authorization defined in NIST 800-37 rev 2 and developing and maintaining documentation in accordance with NIST 800-18 rev 1, the NIST RMF and NIST 800-53 rev 4 guidance.
  • Experience conducting regular system security audits in support of compliance with the overall System Security Plan (SSP) to maintain Authority to Operate (ATO) status.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and manage interaction with other engineering, sales and product teams.
  • Ability to generate Visio and PowerPoint diagrams of architectural designs and then provide written text and documentation around the solution.
  • Knowledge of risk management processes and procedures and the ability to apply these principles to the security designs that are developed.
