The Mega 5 Team at Leidos currently supporting the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) in Washington, DC has an opening for a Law Clerk II to work in a downtown Washington, DC DOJ office. This is an exciting opportunity to use your experience helping the U.S. Department of Justice achieve their mission.

Please Note:

  • Must be able to work onsite 5 days a week in Washington, DC (once temporary Pandemic Remote work is over OR when asked to return in the office).

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Works under the direction of Project Supervisor or Project Manager performing complex legal research.

  • Prepares draft legal documents, such as motions, briefs, memoranda of law, etc.

  • Reviews documents for relevance and privilege and assists DOJ and Agency attorneys with all phases of litigation.

  • Acts independently and/or as a team leader on larger projects.

  • Responsibilities may include acting as primary interface with trial attorneys, experts, and other client staff.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills):

  • Law degree

  • At least two to three years of progressively more responsible experience on litigation support projects including proven capabilities and communication skills to successfully interact with clients and attorneys.

  • Sound working knowledge of federal and state court systems, legal research procedures, and legal research resources.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and thorough knowledge of legal research tools such as LEXIS and Westlaw.

  • Hands-on familiarity with a variety of computer applications, including word processing, databases (such as document review and file management systems), spreadsheets, and imaging.

  • Hands-on familiarity with ESI tools and knowledge of eDiscovery procedures and resources.

  • Ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance.

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Trial experience

  • Experience conducting searches and document review in Relativity.

  • Cite checking proficiency

  • Foreign language skills

This position is covered under the Service Contract Act and is subject to minimum wage requirements as well as the minimum Health and Welfare benefit. Leidos will ensure that all provisions are met through their wages and benefits. The pay for this position will be $39.16/hr.
