Cyber Security Engineer

Level: T2

Salary Range: £35,000 - £40,000 p/a, with potential to increase for truly exceptional performance at assessment

We require a developing information assurance / cyber security engineer who is looking to step up and advance their career. We are looking for individuals who work confidently with a good grasp of cyber security to help support Leidos customers. The role will support our high-calibre Cyber security and engineering teams to produce robust and efficiently managed solutions. The role will require a degree of customer contact and will serve to support ongoing and flexible operating environments.

The role will primarily be responsible to Information Assurance and Cyber Security manager but day- to-day tasks may be delegated by the project manager.

Process Skills/Experience

  • Understanding of the basic IT systems engineering lifecycle

  • Understanding of different lifecycles/methodologies (waterfall, incremental, agile, DevOps)

  • Understanding of fundamental security approaches, and typical solutions e.g. monitoring, firewalls, etc.

  • Experience working in customer delivery environments

Technology skills/Experience

  • Awareness of gaining and maintaining accreditation for secure/sensitive systems

  • A good understanding of Confidentiality, Integrity and Availability (CIA) and practical experience in applying it.

  • Experience in producing high quality documentation.

  • Hands on knowledge of security technologies such as firewalls, mail gateways, load balancers, anti-virus, IPS, IDS etc.

  • Understanding of Protective Monitoring / SIEM systems, their operational application.

  • Knowledge of authentication and authorisation technologies (SAML, LDAP, PKI, etc.)

  • Major vendor Technical Certifications would be advantageous i.e. Microsoft, Cisco, Redhat etc.

Communication and Soft Skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and works well in a team environment;

  • A good level of commercial awareness
