What you’ll be doing...

The Verizon Corporate Information Security (CIS) organization securely enables the business by protecting assets and information across Verizon networks, infrastructure and applications. CIS integrates cybersecurity governance, policies, technologies and operations across Verizon, and works to incorporate security into the design of technology systems and services.
The Sr. Principal Security Architect will be a critical member of the Security Engineering team in CIS that supports multiple business units and a cross-section of security teams.
We are looking for an experienced security professional with a passion for solving tough cybersecurity problems. You will work in conjunction with other stakeholders in security and the business to ensure solutions and platforms comply with internal policy and industry best practices. We are looking for an individual who can balance multiple projects, both short and long term, while still maintaining forward progress.

  • Evaluate current security postures on projects and deployments and provide enhanced security solutions that should consider risks.
  • Develop and document secure solutions for various internal and external services, evaluating the risks to the business.
  • Communicate complex security solutions at all levels from technical detailed documents to executive level presentations and environments.
  • Understand security controls on devices (including mobile, desktop, server, and cloud) for strong identity/zero trust, firmware security, and software integrity solutions.
  • Understand network segmentation and network security controls to provide visibility, risk mitigation, threat detection and mitigations.
  • Perform threat modeling plus conduct reviews of security architecture and platform/service designs.
  • Analyze trends in threat and compliance environments, then collaborate and develop plans for mitigation of risk.
  • Utilize knowledge of common information security standards such as: NIST CSF, CSA and CIS Controls.

In this hybrid role, you'll have a defined work location that includes work from home and assigned office days set by your manager.

What we’re looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.

Even better if you have:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a security or networking related subject area or equivalent work experience.
  • Broad technical experience in several security disciplines including OT/IT endpoint and platform (e.g., Unix/Linux/Windows, mobile) controls, encryption/tokenization, identity and access management, zero trust, PKI, data protection, network segmentation, and security tooling integration in complex environments.
  • Expert ability to draft and contribute to enterprise security policy.
  • Expert ability to analyze and identify risks in network and system designs and communicate with key stakeholders to address the risk and drive a solution.
  • Understanding of security by design principles and architecture level security concepts.
  • Security certifications: CISSP, CISM, or other security certifications, or willingness to obtain within 12 months of hire.
  • Knowledge of security best practices, principles, and common security frameworks, such as NIST, ISO, Common Criteria, TCSEC, OWASP, etc.
  • Up to date knowledge of current and emerging security threats and techniques for exploiting security vulnerabilities.
  • Communication, presentation, and analytical skills along with the ability to thrive in a dynamic environment and handle multiple priorities.
