As a member of our FAA Enterprise Network Services (FENS) team, you will bring your passion, education and experience to this critical mission and interact directly with decision-makers and government staff who are tasked with ensuring the nation's air transportation system's underlying communications infrastructure is secure and always available. The Security Operations Analyst will support compliance with specific contractual requirements. This will include the determination of appropriate security handling of documents, systems, hardware media, and staff reporting obligations. In providing guidance, you will have an advanced working knowledge of the National Industrial Security Operations Manual (NISPOM), and the Intelligence Community Directives (ICD 704 & 705). You will utilize a working knowledge of Operations Security (OPSEC) and the 5-step risk analytics process resulting in the recommendation of mitigation strategies. In this role you will assist with security administration and provide support for all aspects of physical, personnel, administrative, communications, operations and computer/systems security.

• Conducting security briefings, training, investigations, risk management activities, new employee indoctrinations, and annual refresher training.

• Reviewing security applications, various customer-specific forms, customer security requirements, statements of work, and proposals.

• Providing direction and security guidance, and ensuring compliance for all staff security reporting obligations.

• Analyze specific programs and departmental services related operations for risk management/mitigation (OPSEC).

• Assisting with the implementation and maintenance of a departmental insider threat program.

• Initiating and maintaining internal security awareness programs, and helping to execute security self-inspections for multiple programs.

• Handling assigned geographic area secure facilities and assisting with the design and building of new secure data centers and administrative facilities as required.

• Assisting with the management of alarm, access control, and video surveillance systems, and providing after-hours alarm/emergency response as required.

• Working with specific customer security contacts and teams.

• Communicating frequently with external customers to obtain guidance, rulings, approvals, and acceptable deviations or waivers for compliance with contractual policies and regulations.

• Assist with video, badge, and alarm reviews was required.

• Create incident and security violation documentation for submission as needed.

• Provide classification guidance and policy interpretations for department personnel.

• Provide advanced direction to classified industrial security operations related problems while ensuring full compliance with US Government policies/standards. Researches solution options when issues arise and presents solution(s) recommendations to management.

• Plan, coordinate, manage actions required to execute objectives with broad guidance; works independently, achieving results with some oversight.

• Ensure all actions follow Verizon CPI-810, as well as federal, state, and local laws governing the use, protection, and safeguarding of personal information and other sensitive data.

• Serve as a COMSEC custodian (or Alternate custodian) and assist/perform semi-annual material inventories as required.

• Discern and apply the proper standards for the protection of unique customer data.

• Provide support for all aspects of physical security operations by conducting SCIF self- inspections and government-required inspections.

• Work closely with the Cognizant Security Authority (CSA) and other government security and program personnel.

• Coordinate with security vendors as needed to ensure the installation, upgrades, and maintenance for hardware and software components.

• Provide and/or arrange for security escorting within the secure space as needed.

• Reviews current operations, policies, SOP's, SPP's, and recommends ways to streamline operations.

Identifying risks or gaps in controls, and analyzing and solving complex problems comes easily to you. You have a knack for conveying difficult messages to people at all levels, and you are willing to take a stand on important issues. You're self motivated and you work well independently and with teams to achieve outstanding results.

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Four or more years of relevant work experience.
Even better if you have one or more of the following:
  • Professional certifications such as Active Security+, CISSP, CISA, CISM, CFE, or CEH.
  • Experience in a cyber security, information security, or information assurance position including security verification, or security validation, or security audit based on ISO standards.
  • Experience with a broad range of security solutions to address complex control scenarios.
  • Project management and experience with risks associated with global operations, offshoring, or outsourcing.
  • Experience in physical security reviews and dealing with varying levels of user groups, senior executives, and technical personnel.
  • Attended training and security conferences, chairing forums, writing security/technical books and/or similar web content.
  • Experience with network security, risk management, vulnerability assessment, security breach investigation, PCI DSS, ethical hacking, forensics investigation, ITIL, or COBIT frameworks.
