What you’ll be doing...

The Network Security team within Verizon Global Network Management is seeking a Network Security Architect to work on our team ensuring the operational security of next-generation Verizon networks supporting exciting new products like 5G. You will use your experience and knowledge of physical and virtual network element security and technologies to ensure implementation of security designs. In addition to the technical work of looking at equipment configuration or network architectures, you will also be responsible for working across security teams, network planning teams, and engineering teams to ensure that the configuration is consistent with Verizon's operational security model.

  • Facilitate communication and work in partnership with multiple teams.
  • Ensure implementation of network security plans and services.
  • Retrofit and uplift current network security controls.
  • Ensure broad coverage and visibility of network security posture and hygiene.
  • Gather, analyze, and synthesize information.

What we’re looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • This hybrid role will have a defined work location that includes work from home and assigned office days as set by the manager.
  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.
  • IP networking and routing protocol experience.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • Network Security certifications such as CISSP.
  • Understanding of security fundamentals.
  • Experience troubleshooting network issues.
  • Experience with wireless networking and protocols.
  • Experience searching and building reporting using Splunk or ElasticSearch/Kibana.
  • Data analytics skills, for example with Splunk machine learning toolkit.
  • Experience with relevant security-related protocols and configuration.
  • Experience using APIs and other equipment configuration interfaces like netconf.
  • Written and verbal communication skills to clearly document security requirements and issues and explain complex technical issues to management.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time.
