Senior Engineer Consultant-Software Development

Verizon is looking for a dynamic, entrepreneurial, highly motivated Senior Engineer Consultant Software Development for developing Managed security solutions in the Technology and Product development organization. This portfolio includes SASE, Software Defined Perimeter, Network Detection and Response, the Managed Security Services platform/services, as well as the Atlas platform and any other new/additional platform product initiatives for the VBG Cyber security product domain spanning the 5 NIST cybersecurity pillars of identify, Protect, Detect, Respond and Recover.

This role includes the development of new products and incremental features as well as overall lifecycle management of the existing products and services. This role is responsible for systems architecture, support and security, along with deploying systems and supporting peer developers.

This role will require a strong entrepreneurial attitude who can ideate, collaborate, design, solution, and architect managed security products working with internally developed solutions and vendor solutions. The candidate should be able to work in an agile environment across stakeholder organizations - including Software development teams, Product Management, Product Engineering, Security Operations, Network design teams, back office systems, Customers, Sales and partners.

Key responsibilities:

● Build and Develop solutions in the newly developed angular and Node.js GUI base solutions for the Managed Certificate Services product. You will be responsible for developing extensions/and maintaining UI applications using Angular and Node.js

● Strong hands on development experience with AngularJS, NodeJS and TypeScript is therefore required as well as experience with Container based architecture & deployment using Docker

● Experience with large scale public and cloud based solution development, delivery and multi-tenant operations.

● Must have basic Linux/Unix skills and know how to navigate through network architecture and basic sql knowledge

● Experience with strong software development practices including continuous integration and delivery is a must.

● Understand how to develop code using secure coding and secure architecture standards (integrate with static code scans, dynamic code scan, undergo vulnerability scans)

● Interest/ Knowledge of cryptography and PKI is highly appreciated given the nature of the product.

● Drive new solutions, proof of concepts and help drive the architectural direction. Work closely with the platform team in order to contribute to the Verizon platform and also to utilize new platform features back in the managed certificate product

● Ability to quickly adapt to changes, and strong appetite to learn new technologies will be desired.

What we’re looking for...

You will need to have:

● Software engineering and architecture experience in designing large scale enterprise software solutions

● Experience with large scale public and cloud based solution development, delivery and multi-tenant operations.

● Strong experience in full-stack software engineering - design, detailed architecture, vendor selection, software development - client, back-end and infrastructure, testing and quality assurance.

Even better if you have:

● Working Knowledge on AngularJS TypeScript, , along with strong Web and backend development experience

● Strong Java and/or Node based middleware development expertise along with building RESTful APIs.

● Knowledge of databases and SQL

● Strong knowledge of UNIX, Application architecture, web infrastructure, networks, databases and security concepts

● Possesses Technical knowledge of complex systems and architecture concepts ● Comfortable in coordinating across geographically diverse software development teams

● Experience with automation tools, continuous integration and delivery tools is a must

● Knowledge of Security and Networking based solutions

● Excellent communication & Collaboration skills to work with various teams Its better if you have:

● Advanced troubleshooting skills.

● Capability to work with minimum supervision.

● Knowledge of Kubernetes, AMIs, and immutable infrastructure.

● Experience with Cassandra, Solr, Kafka, JVM.

● Good working knowledge of cloud-based services in Security and Networking like Managed Detect and Response, SASE, Zero Trust, DDoS, Security Gateways, WAFs, SDP etc.

● Strong experience in full-stack software engineering - design, detailed architecture, software development - client, back-end and infrastructure, testing and quality

If you are hired into a Colorado work location, the compensation range for this position is between $98,000 and $181,000 based on a full-time schedule. The salary will vary depending on your location and confirmed job-related skills and experience. This is an incentive based position with the potential to earn more. For part-time roles, your compensation will be adjusted to reflect your hours.
