Responsibilities
H Barritt Peterson & Associates, staff counsel for State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance Company, is hiring a Part-Time 2023 Fall Law Intern for our Baltimore Claim Litigation office located in Towson, MD. There may be an option to extend the internship based on work performance and management approval. Our Internship Program strives to provide a balanced and realistic representation of the function of Claims Litigation Counsel, as well as real world exposure to a multitude of legal services being provided including litigation and trial practice. The selected individual will have the opportunity to work one-on-one with attorneys on assigned projects, observe every phase of litigation, perform legal research/writing, and will have a designated mentor throughout the internship. It is a part-time paid internship at $28/hour and working 12-17 hours per week with flexibility given for law school commitments/exams. The position is classified as a hybrid role, meaning that the work arrangement calls for hours in the office and virtually. Everyone in a hybrid role is required to spend some time in the office. Work arrangements could change over time based on business needs.
Located in Towson, MD, we enjoy an active, busy civil trial practice. We provide a congenial, team-oriented, professional work environment with skilled support staff.

Qualifications
- 2L Law School students in the top half of their class and currently enrollment in an ABA accredited Law School program. Student must remain enrolled in the ABA accredited Law School program for the duration of the internship
- Strong research skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated interest in Litigation
- Applicants are required to be eligible to lawfully work in the U.S. immediately; employer will not sponsor applicants for U.S. work opportunity.
