The Senior Manager, Legal Counsel - Employment will be a key member of Stryker's employment law team within the Global Legal and Compliance Department.

This job may be performed remotely from anywhere in the United States, except that this job may not be filled or performed in Colorado.

This attorney will:

  • Advise Human Resources business partners across Stryker’s divisions regarding time-sensitive and complex labor and employment issues.

  • Serve as the key resource on California-related labor and employment issues.

  • Respond to charges of discrimination filed with U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and/or state agencies.

  • Advise on post-employment restrictive covenants, including non-compete and non-solicitation obligations.

  • Conduct sensitive internal investigations regarding suspected violations of Stryker policy.

  • Review and develop HR policies and procedures.

  • Develop and conduct corporate trainings regarding labor and employment practices, and developments in national employment laws.

  • Collaborate with Stryker litigation counsel on employment litigation matters.

  • Participate in merger and acquisition due diligence activities.

  • Independently draft, edit and negotiate contracts.

  • Provide accurate information and research to a supervisor regarding laws and regulations.

What you will need:

  • Minimum 3 years applicable professional experience.

  • Maintains confidential information.

  • Demonstrates proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite.

  • Law degree and admission to practice law in at least one state.

  • Expertise with California labor and employment law required (experience with labor and employment laws in Michigan, New Jersey, Florida, Arizona, Puerto Rico and Texas preferred).

  • Spanish language proficiency preferred.

  • Experience with Benefits and OSHA/Workplace Safety issues preferred.

  • Experience providing timely legal advice in a highly regulated environment preferred.
