Job Description

Position Description:

The position is responsible for providing a broad range of legal support to our business operations in the United States, with a focus on data acquisition and stewardship, innovative uses of data analytics and artificial intelligence, and collaborations with third parties operating in these areas. The position is also responsible for advising on key marketing initiatives and patient programs in the US, and will collaborate closely with compliance and privacy teams as well as ex-US counterparts, to ensure global alignment and consistency in approach. The position will report to the Executive Director of US Commercial and Regulatory Legal.

Specific areas of responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Data acquisition and stewardship and related privacy issues

  • Pharmaceutical regulatory issues and antitrust compliance

  • Licensing and IP protection

  • Support for US commercial and access initiatives (e.g. digital health, innovative partnerships, patient programs, contracting)

  • Fraud and abuse issues

  • Contract negotiation

  • Supervising activities and managing relationships with outside counsel

Position Qualifications:

Education Minimum Requirement:

  • Graduate of an accredited US law school; admission to the Bar of Pennsylvania, New Jersey or another state

Required Experience and Skills:

  • Member in good standing of a Bar of at least one US state or the District of Columbia

  • At least 4 years of legal experience in a law firm or corporate setting, some of which must have been working in at least one of the following areas: (1) the pharmaceutical industry, (2) licensing of data or digital technologies, or (3) data security and management

Preferred Experience and Skills:

  • The candidate should have excellent teamwork, communication, contract drafting, and analytical skills

  • Experience in managing a significant workload, with the ability to to lead and manage multiple projects simultaneously

  • Ability to be proactive, take initiative, and manage a portfolio of issues

  • Sound judgement demonstrated by rapid and disciplined decision making and founded on strong ethical values

  • Experience with application of data analytics and digital capabilities to pharmaceutical research, development or marketing is a plus

  • Experience with business counseling is a plus
