Sr. Principal Scientist / Associate Director, Translational M&S (neuroscience)

6000! That is the number of associates in the Novartis Institutes for BioMedical Research (NIBR). This division is the innovation engine of Novartis, focusing on powerful new technologies that have the potential to help produce therapeutic breakthroughs for patients.

The PK Sciences / Translational Modeling & Simulation group is embedded within the Translational Medicine department of NIBR. Our goal is to enable quantitative approaches to rigorous decision making, from target identification to first-in-human studies and beyond. Novartis has a broad pipeline of therapies for psychiatric and neurodegenerative diseases that spans low molecular weight compounds (small molecule), biologics, oligonucleotides, and gene therapies. We are seeking a curious and proactive modeler to apply computational methods to drive the design, characterization, and delivery of these new therapies. Our group is growing, and we hope you will join us as we use computational modeling to generate new insights with both forward and reverse translational approaches.

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
• Act as the Translational M&S representative on several neuroscience programs by developing and executing modeling strategies, collaboratively contributing to project team discussions, and guiding decisions such as therapeutic design and dose selection.
• Build and apply quantitative systems pharmacology (QSP) models that link drug pharmacology, mechanism(s) of action, and biological outcomes. This will include application of physiologically based PK (PBPK) modeling to better understand the biodistribution of therapeutics in the brain and how this affects safety and efficacy.
• Contribute to the development of integrated modeling platforms for oligonucleotide and AAV gene therapies that bridge data and knowledge from preclinical species to patients, partnering with discovery project teams and with preclinical safety and pharmacometrics groups.
• Contribute to programs across therapeutic modalities and disease indications, as needed. Novartis has a broad portfolio with hundreds of drug discovery and clinical development projects and you will have opportunities to grow and develop as you apply modeling insights to projects beyond neuroscience programs.
• Proactively seek opportunities to increase the impact and awareness of translational modeling through communications with internal and external audiences. You will serve as a M&S subject area expert across PK Sciences and NIBR initiatives and as a Novartis representative in external consortia.
• Mentor others and create a constructive culture within own scientific expertise area.

[#video#https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mo1vwtVPVA0{#400,300#}#/video#]
