About the Role

Location: The location for this position will be based out of East Hanover, NJ and will follow a hybrid working model.

The Head REFS US is the strategic business partner for a specific region and division combination and acts and the interface between key customers and its strategic delivery partner(s). Through their deep understanding of internal customer strategies and REFS requirements, the Regional REFS Head drives collaboration across REFS LT and is responsible for the REFS-wide account strategy and service delivery and implementation through the division/region, ensuring that it meets/exceeds business needs and delivers a high level of customer satisfaction.

The Head REFS US is the principle point of contact and responsible for end to end demand & supply management for all Novartis Divisions within the region. Furthermore, in the regional capability she/he is responsible for the coordination in order to guarantee service delivery. She/he will drive superior performance for all REFS and to ensure that standards are properly aligned with the overall REFS framework. P&L accountability forms an integral part of the role.

The Head REFS US ensures functional expertise across the geography and collaborates closely with the delivery partner(s) and PMOs to provide key inputs into the management of the overall REFS portfolio. She/he will also build and develop talent, and drive a continuous improvement mindset in the region.

The Head REFS US is also the owner of the processes under management and ensures to follow and/or build up the relevant governance in order to deliver successfully

The Head REFS US is accountable for the end-to-end customer experience of the workplace, and as such, endorses, promotes and applies the Experience Mindset across their portfolio and processes, ensuring to attend to the needs of the customers.

Finally, and specific to the US, the REFS Head US delivers the East Hanover transformation as well as the NIBR sites consolidation.

Major accountabilities:

• Is acknowledged as a business thought leader, willingly makes and supports tough decisions & tradeoffs on behalf of the organization

• Navigates successfully within the organization and external parties connecting the dots

• Provides compelling rationale for ideas considering needs of multiple parties. Wins concessions without damaging relationships. Can persist and holds firm if required. Builds coalitions, adjusts communications depending on audience

• Provides direction with regards to areas for quality measurement and develops and implements key metrics (KPI’s) interpreting the direction from senior management.

• Recognizes when adjustments to partner arrangements may be required for the benefit of the end customer and/or REFS and can successfully action as required

• Anticipates the impact of business change taking a global and divisional view and assesses the impact this has on the region, architects a solution in collaboration with the appointed partner and global peers to drive the best outcomes to the business

• Provide leadership to sites and countries within the region and sets clear objectives for the region in line with REFS vision

This opportunity is located at the Novartis East Hanover (NJ) site and will not have the ability to be located remotely. Relocation assistance may be available.

The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $222,400 and $333,600 per year; however, while salary ranges are effective from 1/1/24 through 12/31/24, fluctuations in the job market may necessitate adjustments to pay ranges during this period. Further, final pay determinations will depend on various factors, including, but not limited to geographical location, experience level, knowledge, skills and abilities. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a sign-on bonus, restricted stock units, and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.

Role Requirements

What you will bring to the role:

• University Degree, MBA desirable

• Overall relevant work experience of approximately 10 years, ideally at multi-national organizations and Demonstrable understanding of Real Estate and Facilities Services domains and technical proficiency in one or more service line (REM, DCM, FS and HSE)

• Experience in identification and management of senior and diverse stakeholders and/or senior level business partnering

• Experience of communication/influencing/negotiating successful with senior level stakeholders (e.g. Regional CFOs, Country Presidents, Head of BU)

• Ability to create long-lasting customer relationships demonstrating personal credibility

• Proven resilience and strong leadership skills to drive change as well as comfortable providing challenge to key stakeholders’ requests

• Strategic mind-set showing the ability to identify opportunities and translate them into strategies

• Proven record of leading diverse teams and remote relationships and ability to balance resource demands from multiple internal customers and to develop people to meet both their career goals and the organizations goals
