About the Role

The Director, Product Strategy Lead will lead the launch preparation for the in-development, intrathecal delivery of the product. This involves driving the launch readiness of this strategic asset to ensure the product & organization are completely ready to deliver this potentially ground-breaking product to patients with SMA. This will involve creation, implementation, orchestration, and measurement of the integrated product strategy for the IT formulation, in the U.S., under the leadership of the General Manager. This role will drive the launch preparation across functions to increase the im-pact of this product and actively managing resource allocation across these multiple teams & functions (Marketing, Sales, Patient Specialty Services, Market Access, Market Access, & Medical). This leader will impact the Novartis legacy in their responsibility for accelerating impact of the product to achieve the next level of growth in the Neuroscience franchise.

Key Responsibilities:

· Drive & ensure launch readiness for product IT formulation, ensuring creation of a cross-functionally (sales, medical, market access, patient support, & marketing) robust launch plan and completion of all relevant launch readiness frameworks & approaches. This includes, but is not limited to, forecasting/aspiration setting, market research/insight generation, strategy development, cross-functional launch planning & readiness, resource/budget allocation, key success metric definition & monitoring, launch planning/project management

· Define critical and specific integrated priorities and key impact measures for the IT formulation in consultation with the cross-functional product strategy team under the final leadership of the Product/Portfolio General Manager.

· Establish and coordinate management of launch KPI’s across all functions accountable for the launch product strategy. Integrate, lead, measure and take decisive action on the integrated strategy to raise impact for launch

• Significant contribution to the future P&L of the formulation, while enabling partner functions to manage day-to-day resource management

· Integrate key insights and data in partnership with functional heads to have an adaptive strategy and launch plan in service of higher impact for this medicine. Significant, eventual contribution to the topline results as an outcome of strategic choices as well as cross-functional resource allocation to deliver highest impact

· Partner with functional heads in trade-off decisions. Partner with General Management function on enterprise decisions, including potential trade-offs between products/indications

· As a key member of the General Manager team in the Integrated Product Strategy Organization, demonstrate accountability for the launch and responsibility for broader enterprise leadership in their decisions and engagement across the US organization and the global organization

• Ensure that customer engagement and relationship-building are factored into the product/ indications’ strategic approach and performance metrics to optimize the approach and identify potential areas of risk

• Rigorously apply the Novartis standard of ethics and policy for intelligence gathering.

• Proactively communicate and facilitate discussions with all key partners and technical personnel to ensure that these ethical and legal standards are well integrated into all competitive intelligence activities

This position will be located at the East Hanover site and will not have the ability to be located remotely. This position will require up to 25% travel as defined by the business (domestic and/ or international).

Role Requirements

What You’ll Bring to the Role:

Education: Bachelor’s Degree; MBA or Health Policy Degree is preferred

Essential Requirements:

• 8+ years in pharmaceutical, biotech, healthcare, or healthcare consulting industry inclusive of at least 2 different types of cross-functional roles/experience. Cross-functional roles/experience means the as-sociate has worked in different full-time roles for at least 1 year each. Cross-functional roles can include commercial experiences in Sales, Marketing, Market Access, Patient Services, Medical, Commercial Acceleration, etc.

• 2+ years of direct responsibility for large budget management inclusive of owning key product trade-off decisions

• 2+ years leading and translating an integrated product strategy requiring global and local alignment

• US Market, launch and product lifecycle stages experience or General Manager experience in other countries

• Passion for transformational enterprise leadership and demonstrated strategic skill

• Decisive strategy in service of delivering higher impact for patients, customers, healthcare systems with higher quality, speed, and agility.

• Strong analytical skills, ability to generate insights and develop relevant action plans with the ability to simplify complex concepts & strategies to “tell a story”

• Strong influencing skills, the ability to exercise tact and diplomacy in stressful situations with the ability to lead, manage and motivate teams, with or without authority

Desirable Requirements:

• Gene therapy and/or rare disease experience

• 2+ years within a significant consultancy group (e.g., McKinsey, BCG, Bain)

The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $201,600 and $302,400/year; however, while salary ranges are effective from 1/1/24 through 12/31/24, fluctuations in the job market may necessitate adjustments to pay ranges during this period. Further, final pay determinations will depend on various factors, including, but not limited to geographical location, experience level, knowledge, skills, and abilities. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a sign-on bonus, re-stricted stock units, and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered.
