Eaton’s Vehicle Group, Royal Power Solutions business is currently seeking a Senior Quality Systems Engineer to join our team at our Carol Stream, IL facility. This is a new position to our Quality team. Relocation assistance is available for this role. Sponsorship benefits are not available for this role.

Position Overview:

This position provides support and expertise in all aspects of Plant Quality Systems functions. The Quality Systems include ISO 9001, IATF 16949, ISO 14001, ISO 45001 (MESH) and Eaton Quality Management System (EQMS). Main responsibilities include review and assurance of compliance to Quality Systems, leading Quality improvement initiatives, administering the Corrective Action System, and coordinating and leading the Internal Audit System.

In this function you will:

  • Report to Quality Systems Engineering Supervisor or their designate.
  • Overall QMS responsibility for Royal Power Solutions – Carol Stream, IL site.
  • Plan, schedule, assist and provide professional support to all functions regarding all types of quality audits. Ensure that timely and accurate responses to findings noted during customer audits, to include the initiation and verification of required corrective actions along with the follow-up audits to issue conformance to customer and regulatory requirements.
  • Administer the Corrective Action Database for both internally and externally issued corrective actions.
  • Work closely with all other departments to alleviate quality problems related to all aspects of Plant Operations.
  • Develop and maintain quality assurance procedures that ensure conformance to customer and regulatory requirements.
  • Analyze, review, and recommend response to customer quality requirements contained in contracts, purchase orders, and specifications. Provide and recommend alternate means of compliance to the stated requirements, or cost data on those requirements deemed unsatisfactory.
  • Participate on or Lead Internal Audit Teams and provide expertise regarding the scheduling of Internal Audits, internal audit techniques, reporting requirements, performance of audits, audit reporting, and corrective action follow-up, as required.
  • Function as Lead Auditor to perform quality system audits to assess compliance.
  • Supports and coordinates the efforts and execution of the Fresh Eyes Audit (FEA), 3rd party audits, and internal audit process (FEA, CQI, product/process) including maintaining audits records as evidence and the competency pool of internal quality auditors. Support the Fresh Eyes Audit process by becoming a certified internal auditor and becoming a regional asset for fresh eyes audits and launch readiness reviews.
  • Participate as a Quality Management System (QMS) Fresh Eyes auditor each year
  • Hosts and supports Internal, Customer, and Third-Party Audits as required.
  • Actively participates in cross-functional regional quality teams and QMS initiatives to assist in driving quality improvements, process improvements, business system enhancements and process standardization. Support the training of QMS initiatives and activities in Mexico.
  • Analyzes organizational quality metrics and performs periodic reviews to evaluate results and recommends action plans to Quality Systems Engineering Supervisor and site Quality Manager to close gaps at an operational level.
  • Contributes in using problem solving techniques and determining containment and Corrective Action solutions with applicable verification methods
  • Contributes in the design and implementation of quality assurance training programs and conducts training in quality-related topics
  • Support the development, analysis, and implementation of data feedback systems required to effectively evaluate the local Quality Management System.
  • Ensure QMS and Knowledge Management systems meet the multiple requirements of ISO 9001/IATF-16949, EQMS, MESH, OpA and EBE by designing and simplifying processes to meet all requirements simultaneously.
  • Support core tool deployments and quality training
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in from an accredited institution
  • Minimum two (2) years of experience in Quality Systems w/in a manufacturing environment
  • Working knowledge of IATF 16949 or ISO9001 quality standards
  • Understanding of following QMS tools:
    • Problem Solving
    • Process Failure Mode Effects Analysis (PFMEA)
    • Control Plans
    • Production Part Approval Process Capability; (PPAP) requirements
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and SharePoint.
  • Must be able to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship now and within the future

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical or engineering discipline
  • Experience working in the Automotive Industry
  • Bilingual Spanish & English
  • CQE and/or CQM certifications
  • Six Sigma Black Belt or Green Belt certifications.
  • ISO 9001:2015 Lead auditor certification.
  • American Society for Quality (ASQ) Certified Quality Engineer
  • Six Sigma Green or Black Belt Certification
  • 2+ years of Quality Audit experience
  • Advanced understanding of following QMS tools:
    • Gage Plans
    • Run@Rate
    • Statistical Process Control (SPC)
    • MSA (Measurement Systems Analysis)
    • Automotive Industry Action Group (AIAG)
    • Process Capability
    • Gage Plans

Position Criteria:

  • In depth experience in an EMS environment including materials and manufacturing processes
  • Experience leading the PPAP process to successful conclusion.
  • Strong understanding of statistical process control and how to use data to drive decisions.
  • Advanced knowledge of OEM quality standards, systems, and processes.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Root cause analysis – 6-Sigma, Lean Manufacturing
  • Advanced computer skills, including P.C. knowledge and current technology software familiarity.
  • Ability to communicate effectively
