2,000,000+ is the number of compound samples managed by the sample management group in NIBR Cambridge. You will enable 5000+ scientists and 200+ research projects at Novartis Institutes for BioMedical Research (NIBR). As a member of the global compound management leadership team, you will accelerate drug discovery through continuous process improvement, and the implementation of new technologies in compound sample storage, HT-pipetting, and sample processing automation. As experts in process, technology and drug discovery, operational excellence and a collaborative mind-set are central to our purpose.<br><br>NIBR's global compound sample management network will build the next generation set up for compound lead optimization, called Compound Hub 2.0, in the coming ~4 years in close collaboration with our research IT group. This is an exciting opportunity for a technology leader to co-develop a best-in-class compound sample logistics set-up enabling drug discovery on a global scale, through innovative and integrated sample ordering, automated processing, and distribution.<br><br>We are seeking a highly motivated, passionate, and experienced process and automation leader to head our sample management team. The team is part of the High Throughput Biology (HTB) group within the Chemical Biology and Therapeutics (CBT) department.<br><br>You will be working in an open, interdisciplinary, and collaborative environment with compound sample management experts, automation engineers, software engineers, assay & screening biologists, data scientists and medicinal chemists. Together you will ensure daily operational excellence as well as continuous process developments in sample management, in line with the needs of NIBR drug discovery. <br><br>You are a self-motivated, curious, creative, and agile technology expert and leader who enjoys working in a collaborative, fast-paced environment, and wants to positively impact drug discovery through sample management technologies.<br><br>Your Key Responsibilities Include:<br><br>- Lead NIBR's compound sample management in Cambridge, MA, and represent it to users and senior management at the site.<br><br>- Manage the day-to-day operations, ensure operational excellence, drive continuous process improvements with your team and take ownership to ensure challenges are addressed.<br><br>- As a servant leader you provide direction to your team, mentor your reports, enable their development and ensure adequate abilities in your team.<br><br>- Co-design NIBR's global workflows and lead local implementations as a member of the global compound sample management leadership team.<br><br>- Collaborate effectively with your key partners locally at the other research sites and externally.<br><br>[#video#{#400,300#}#/video#]
