As Penske maintains a trajectory of rapid growth, we continue to evaluate our needs to enhance processes and supporting systems. Recently we elected to invest in our commission plan strategy through the addition of Sales Performance Management (SPM) software Varicent and are seeking a Manager of SPM Experience to join the HRIS team as we create a world class HCM environment. The Senior Manager-SPM System is a new role at Penske and will be responsible for leading the strategy and roadmap as well as the technical lead for implementations, and responsible for optimizing, improving, and crafting engaging and meaningful commission plans for our sales associates. To be successful, they must leverage a team of SPM Analyst, IT, and vendor resources to implement and execute SPM initiatives leveraging Varicent. This includes involvement in strategic workforce initiatives, program design, system acumen, and validating associate experience by measuring adoption and effectiveness.

We are looking for someone who will be data-driven, strategic, and creative solution-oriented, who can be a trusted adviser driving business value and associate experience through enterprise-wide programs, tools, processes, and data while staying true to our Digital Transformation guiding principles of Simplify, Automate, Direct Access, Mobile First, and Experience Driven.

Optimally we would love to have candidate embedded with our team in our corporate office in Reading, PA, however we will consider the potential for qualified candidates in a remote capacity with willingness to travel to our corporate office on occasion.


  • Partner with Vendors, HR, IT, and Operation teams to lead enterprise-wide opportunities and best practices using Varicent SPM.
  • Evaluate and support programs to ensure there is enterprise-wide adoption, knowledge sharing, and consistency with our guiding principles.
  • Collect, analyze, and apply data insights to inform the design of scalable commission programs across different geographies and associate populations.
  • Work as part of a cross-functional team to identify, define, prioritize, and deliver features and enhancements.
  • Oversee the work of SPM Analysts to configure new features and functionality.
  • Inform SPM process design, apply system best practices, and gather detailed requirements.
  • Maintain a thorough knowledge and understanding of Varicent SPM capabilities and help guide the technology roadmap.
  • Communicate effectively with all levels of Penske organizations.

  • Other projects and tasks as assigned by Director or Vice President


  • 10 years working in commission planning or business system support: commissions, customer support, training, reporting, SaaS issue resolution, configuration, technical writing required
  • 5 or more years of product management experience strongly preferred
  • Completed at least 5 System Implementations strongly preferred
  • 4-year degree or relevant years of experience with workforce systems or commissions/HR/business processes required
  • Experience supervising a small team required
  • Effective communication skills are essential as close collaboration with various departments throughout the business is critical to the success of our systems and programs
  • Prior experience with change management in a large, diverse organization, strongly preferred
  • Previous experience working on agile development or system deployment projects strongly preferred
  • Background in SPM and experience
  • Experience with Varicent SPM preferred.
  • Strong leadership and negation skills
  • Can gathering and validate clear system requirements and create compelling user stories
  • Ability to creatively problem solve for scalable solutions
  • Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job
