The Change Manager will be a member of the Program Management Office (PPMO) for a partnership between Optum and a health system and play a key role in enabling the successful execution of large-scale projects and programs. This person is primarily responsible for creating and implementing change management strategies and plans that maximize engagement and minimize resistance to enable achievement of business results.

The focus will be on assisting leadership with the establishment and application of change management standards, tools and templates and ensuring that change initiatives meet business, schedule and budget objectives while working to drive faster adoption, greater ultimate utilization and higher proficiency on the changes impacting employees in the organization.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Supports development of and applies structured change management and communications standards, approaches, methodologies, tools and templates to programs/projects
  • Drives identification and assessment of change management needs related to partnership programs/projects
  • Supports the identification of organizational impacts, potential risks, anticipated points of resistance, and performance gaps and development of specific mitigation strategies to address the concerns
  • Develops a cohesive, integrated change management strategy based on a situational awareness of the details of the changes and the groups being impacted across the portfolio of partnership program/projects
  • Drives the design and development of targeted and actionable change management plans, including leadership alignment, stakeholder engagement/management plans, communication plans, learning strategy/training plans and resistance management plans
  • Collaborates with project teams and key stakeholders (e.g. communication, training, HR and OD specialists) in the formulation of plans and activities to support project implementation
  • Works with program/project teams to ensure change management activities are appropriately integrated into overall program / project plans and aligned with project milestones / timelines
  • Provides guidance and supports program/project team to conduct various types of change management assessments, evaluate results, and effectively present findings and recommendations
  • Ensures that the total impact of the change has been reviewed and all necessary actions are in place
  • Actively coaches executive leaders who are change sponsors
  • Creates and manages measurement systems to track adoption, utilization and proficiency of individual changes
  • Monitors success of change management strategy implementation throughout project lifecycle and recommend adjustments, as needed
  • Develops and manages relationships with health system executives and key stakeholders and work to build consensus amongst stakeholders who play a critical key role in the ability to successfully implement the identified solutions
  • Provides status updates and review of change initiatives to senior leadership

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources management, business administration or related field
  • 6+ years experience in change management, preferably in a consulting setting
  • Proven experience leading large scale change initiatives for complex programs/rojects and/or enterprise transformations
  • Experience utilizing Prosci ADKAR change management methodology
  • Extensive knowledge of change management principles, methodologies, techniques, and tools, including Prosci ADKAR
  • Experience conducting a variety of assessments (e.g., change readiness, stakeholder, risk, learning /training needs, communication effectiveness, etc.) and effectively managing the implementation of change management and communications strategies/plans
  • Local or willing to relocate to the Pacific Northwest
  • Full COVID-19 vaccination is an essential requirement of this role. UnitedHealth Group will adhere to all federal, state and local regulations as well as all client requirements and will obtain necessary proof of vaccination prior to employment to ensure compliance

  • Master’s degree
  • Prosci Certified
  • Superb organizational skills

  • Solid analytic and decision-making abilities
  • Executive presence and exceptional communication skills - both written and verbal
