We are looking for an experienced Senior Marketing Manager to support marketing campaigns and activities focused on driving patient acquisition, engagement, and retention. Working closely with Marketing Director, this position will establish strategies and implement programs to impact patient experience and increase retention through integrated marketing programs. The ideal candidate is passionate about driving measurable outcomes across productivity, campaign performance, and process change. Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develops and implements market-wide programs across Optum CA care delivery organizations (CDOs) supporting membership growth and retention priorities for our employed and affiliate physicians (IPA)
  • Creates and manages consumer marketing programs across the patient journey: from prospect marketing to new member onboarding to patient engagement and retention -at-risk and high-priority patient segments
  • Engages and enables regional growth and operations teams to support campaign launches and program rollouts through training, best practice sharing, and playbooks
  • Serves as primary Optum CA marketing POC for Annual Election Period (AEP) marketing initiatives – works with national and local creative teams for planning and execution
  • Builds and executes end-to-end campaigns - identifies target audiences, leads positioning and messaging, and determines marketing tactics and channels
  • Drives the development and selection of marketing promotional materials and partners with the creative services team on creation and review process for marketing assets and content
  • Measures and optimizes marketing campaign performance and makes data-driven decisions – in close partnership with marketing operations, analytics, and CRM teammates
  • Develops marketing communications aimed to engage, educate, and drive outcomes and manages the review and deployment process
  • Trains and mentors marketing staff and aids in development plans, facilitates and contributes to staff meetings as required
  • Builds expertise in Medicare marketing guidance and adheres to CMS and California guidelines
  • Consistently exhibits behavior and communication skills that demonstrate Optum’s commitment to superior customer service, including quality, care and concern with each and every internal and external customer
  • Uses, protects, and discloses Optum’s patients’ protected health information (PHI) only in accordance with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) standards
  • Performs additional duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college and/or a professional certification requiring formal education beyond a two-year college
  • 5+ years of experience
  • 4+ years of marketing, product management, consulting, customer service, sales, or project management experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Health Service Administration, Business Administration or Public Health
  • Project Management certification and experience with Workfront or other project management tools
  • Experience with direct and digital marketing channels – including mail, email, text, events, paid, social, and display
  • Healthcare industry experience
  • Experience measuring, monitoring, and reporting on marketing performance and deriving insights - including campaign optimization, ROI and conversion analysis, A/B testing, segmentation analysis
  • Experience with SalesForce and other CRM tools
  • Experience in managing relationships with vendors, agencies, brokers, payors, community partners, and with senior leaders and operators
  • Experience with aging and multicultural populations

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:

  • Proficient in Microsoft applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) with a solid knowledge of Excel formulas
  • Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Strong organizational, multi-tasking, problem solving and follow-up skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, service oriented and culturally sensitive
  • Experience in managing, motivating and developing staff
  • Prior knowledge of Medicare managed care and commercial markets beneficial
  • Ability to meet a sales quota or growth target
  • Ability to prioritize projects and meet project deadlines
  • Proven ability to pilot and roll out new programs
  • Project management skills
  • Demonstrated track record in the developing productive business relationships with experience in conducting promotional / sales events
  • Creative and hands-on team player
  • Must be flexible and adaptable to change
