The Manager of Strategic Initiatives will play a key role in driving UnitedHealthcare Medicare & Retirement’s long-term growth and strategic objectives. This role is responsible for supporting the M&R leadership team in articulating and executing our business vision, strategies and tactics to achieve growth, experience and innovation objectives. The individual will be responsible for leading and executing special high-priority strategic initiatives, monitoring the internal and external market environment to identify new business opportunities and acting as a liaison for the M&R leadership team on matters of enterprise importance.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Lead and implement high-visibility strategic initiatives, such as new market launches, business development, innovation pilots and other growth opportunities
  • Provide analysis and insight into business-critical topics, including the competitive environment, Medicare industry trends, government relations and new market opportunities
  • Support our innovation and M&A pipeline, including leading monthly council meetings and acting as a liaison to UHG and UHC leadership
  • Assist with the development, management and execution of the annual M&R business plan, which informs the overall strategic framework and roadmap of key initiatives for the year
  • Work collaboratively across all functional areas to compile essential business information and synthesize into key takeaways for regular and ad-hoc executive reports to support the execution of business priorities / strategic initiatives
  • Manage and develop necessary business updates for leadership, including quarterly Board updates and other executive materials

The person in this role will work alongside their team in the Minnetonka, MN office five days a week. Required Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree in business, finance or other relevant field
  • 3+ years of relevant experience in strategy, business development, management consulting, finance, or general management
  • Intermediate or higher level of proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel
  • Proven ability to grasp and understand new business models, articulate business strategies and formulate concise solutions to complex problems
  • Proven excellent consultative, interpersonal, communication, writing and presentation skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proven history of quickly gaining credibility, partnering with business leaders and exhibiting executive presence
  • Proven track record of effectively driving results in a dynamic, matrixed environment with high degree of organizational change and ambiguity
  • Proven ability to champion continuous change and consult with versatility
