Eaton’s Global Energy Infrastructure Solutions (GEIS) division is currently seeking an Operational Excellence (OpEx) Manager to join the team at our manufacturing facility in Syracuse, NY. Relocation assistance is available.

Eaton's Crouse-Hinds Business manufactures over 100,000 products for NEC and IEC applications, including: conduit fittings and cable glands, industrial control and electrical apparatus, enclosures, industrial luminaires (including LED), plugs and receptacles, drilling and marine products, commercial construction and solar solutions. The Syracuse, NY site core competencies are iron & aluminum foundries, machining, plating, and assembly. Manufacturing about 1 million units per month, the Syracuse team places high value on talented professionals who are focused on problem solving and efficiency.

The expected annual salary range for this role is $105000.03 - $154000.04 a year.

What you’ll do:

As OpEx Manager, you will be part of the site Senior Leadership Team and play a significant role in enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of the site’s processes. This role focuses on the continuous improvement of operations to ensure the Syracuse plant meets the evolving needs of the business and its customers. Through the analysis of performance data, identification of inefficiencies, and the implementation of strategic solutions, the OpEx Manager supports the site in achieving its goals. You will collaborate with various departments to foster a culture of innovation and improvement, ultimately leading to increased productivity, quality, and customer satisfaction. This role has up to 10% travel and Day-to-Day activities include:

  • Operational Excellence (OpEx) – Lead and facilitate process improvement projects using Lean Six Sigma and other continuous improvement methodologies to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness. Develop and implement operational excellence strategies and roadmaps in alignment with organizational goals, ensuring integration with business processes and systems. Research and implement new technologies or methodologies that can further enhance operational efficiency, staying ahead of industry trends and competitive benchmarks.
  • Eaton Business System (EBS) – Provide expertise for tools and training including, EBS Pull, OpA, EBS Assessment, etc.
  • Site Leadership Team – Drive Cost-Out accountability for the site in alignment with the site’s annual Profit Plan objectives. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify process bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and areas for cost reduction, proposing innovative solutions.
  • Training – Design and execute training programs for staff at all levels on operational excellence principles, tools, and techniques to build an organizational culture of continuous improvement. Facilitate the adoption of best practices in project management and process optimization across the organization, ensuring consistency and standardization where appropriate.
  • Performance Metrics – Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to track the progress and impact of operational excellence initiatives, adjusting strategies as necessary.

An effective change management background is key in process implementation and fostering a culture of adaptability and continuous improvement among team members. Proficiency in risk assessment to evaluate potential roadblocks and devise strategies to mitigate them will ensure uninterrupted and efficient operations and optimize overall performance. We are looking for candidates who are diverse in their backgrounds, perspectives, and experiences, and who can bring fresh and innovative ideas to our team.

Qualifications:

Required (Basic) Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
  • Minimum five (5) years’ experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Minimum three (3) years Lean Six Sigma background and applied experience.
  • Minimum one (1) year leadership experience, such as Project Management, Product or Process Improvement / Implementation.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in operations, engineering, and/or quality
  • Experience in electrical or automotive industry manufacturing
  • Green or Black Belt Certification
