Job Description:

As a Senior Engineer, this individual develops, evaluates, implements, and maintains custom test equipment (e.g., diagnostic tools, acceptance testing equipment) to repair components and/or finished devices with the intent to improve or reduce repair cycle times. Adheres to quality and quantity standards and follows engineering requirements and blueprints to meet specifications. Knows and applies the fundamental concepts, practices and procedures of the manufacturing engineering specialization. They will possess and apply a broad knowledge of engineering principles, practices, and procedures to deliver complex cost saving and continuous improvement projects. This individual will be a key contributor to key strategies within Global Customer Care.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Development of electromechanical equipment used for product testing, including proof of concept, system development (electromechanical and software), engineering prints, validation, and implementation
  • Identifies and implements safety/ergonomic and cycle time improvements within processes utilizing electromechanical equipment
  • Accountable for ensuring assigned processes and process changes are compliant and documented in accordance with Stryker procedures and applicable regulations
  • Develops and evaluates blueprints and engineering requirements of equipment to ensure sustainable manufacturability
  • Partners with global service operations, supply chain, engineering, and other groups to solve manufacturing and process issues to drive customer satisfaction
  • Contributes to leading in product innovation by listening and working with others and contributing new ideas
  • Committed to quality by striving for reliability and quality in our products, continuously searching for ways to enhance performance and meeting all training and documentation criteria
  • Monitor and influence progress of projects to ensure sound application of engineering principles are used and design intent is being followed and achieved
  • Provide regular updates on project progress to appropriate personnel, with the ability to plan, organize and implement many concurrent tasks
  • Ensure implementation of new/updated equipment is robust and sustainable, including buy-in from R&D, global usability, preventive maintenance, equipment installation and qualification, and cycle time optimization

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering discipline, Electrical preferred
  • 2+ years of related engineering experience in a manufacturing environment

Additional skills:

  • Demonstrates knowledge of electromechanical system design
  • Basic working knowledge of software development, including LabView and TestStand platforms
  • Demonstrates strong analytical & problem-solving skills, a process improvement orientation, and the ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment using independent judgement
  • Excellent presentation, interpersonal, and written/verbal communication skills
  • Technological expert, willing to source, investigate and implement technological and low-cost advances
  • Confident and effective decision maker, with the ability to negotiate and influence others
  • Demonstrated ability to operate small hand tools (e.g. pliers, screwdrivers, wrenches, hammer, etc.), power tools and test/inspection equipment
