Our Company is making strategic investments in Facilities and Infrastructure of the Future. A Manufacturing Execution System (MES) is an integral element of this foundation to manage pilot plant operations.

We are seeking an energetic individual to join our Global Research Laboratory IT Organization to be the Sr. Technical Engineer for a multi-site effort to implement a Manufacturing Execution System and explore opportunities to leverage the process and product data to make real-time plant-floor decisions.

Primary Tasks:

  • Provide technical expertise in MES solutions to Rahway, NJ and/or West Point, PA Research Laboratory Pilot Plants by leading development, maintenance, and support of the global MES solution across U.S..

  • Work with both business stakeholders and IT partners to appreciate business requirements and translate to MES solutions.

  • Comprehend the Technical aspects of the MES solution including software components, configuration, recipe and object libraries, interfaces, reports and any customizations that’s required to support the MES operations.

  • Be accountable for MES interfaces that support integration to SAP, Lab Instruments, Quality execution systems, Process control systems (DeltaV, PLCs, etc.), AWS Data Warehouse and IOT digital solutions.

  • Ensure ongoing compliance with regulatory safety, GMP and Validation requirements. Ensure all systems are designed, built and operated to full SDLC requirements.

  • Promote the effective use of IT standards and tools, while embracing the acute needs of a competitive research environment.

  • Develop and convey accurate resource estimates and timelines.

  • Drive effective business governance of projects and post implementation oversight of applications.

  • Act as the primary point of contact as Tier 3 Engineer supporting the MES solution for Rahway and /or West Point PA site interacting with the site automation, network, and the lab team

Education Minimum:

  • B.A./B.S. or M.A./M.S. in a scientific or technical discipline (such as computer science, engineering, biology, chemistry, etc.). Pharmaceutical experience preferred but not mandatory.

Prerequisites:

  • 5+ years in process automation, MES and batch manufacturing industry standards and/or quality system disciplines.

  • The candidate will have comprehension of shop floor activities, GMP and process automation in addition to prior experience in MES use and support.

  • Strong domain expertise in the application of IT to manufacturing, including a broad appreciation of processes and how they are supported by IT tools and systems.

  • Knowledge of industry standard integration protocols and programming applications such as OPC, Delta-V, OSI PI, Data historian, ODBC, SQL and Web API

  • Has integrated MES with ERP solutions such as SAP/Oracle.

  • Worked with AWS Cloud will be added advantage, but not mandatory.

  • Problem solver with a significant record of accomplishment

  • Demonstrate strategic thinking skills and an eagerness to learn scientific processes, drug discovery and development processes, regulatory requirements as necessary to solve problems

  • Ability to work independently, asynchronously (across time zones) and with excellent communication skills that cross culture/geographic/organizational boundaries

  • Record of working in a team of multidisciplinary scientists and IT personnel and operating effectively with cross functional teams.

  • Act as the primary point of contact as Engineer supporting the MES solution for Rahway and /or West Point site interacting with the site automation, network, and the lab team

  • Travel will be required to Rahway, NJ and West Point, PA plants post COVID restrictions or as project demands. International site visit may be required in the future.
