Eaton’s Vehicle Division is currently seeking a 2nd Shift, Senior Manufacturing Engineer to join our team. This position is based at our Kings Mountain, NC manufacturing facility and provides relocation.

Position Overview: The Senior Manufacturing Engineer’s primary function is to design, implement, improve, and maintain the processes in area of responsibility, related to clutch assembly required for OEM and aftermarket customers in alignment to Department Goals around Safety, Quality, Delivery, Inventory and Flex Productivity. This includes research, development, and feasibility reviews. Develop and utilize available technologies to improve output, efficiency, and quality of equipment and processes.

In this function you will:

Monitor, improve and maintain processes in area of responsibility for HD & MD clutch assemblies in the Kings Mountain facility through:

  • Development of safe work methods and processes
  • Development of processes in area of responsibility that result in a high level of quality
  • Updating work instructions, posted references, process alerts, control plans, standard work, & related documents
  • Improving the reliability and capability of equipment
  • Evaluating related processes for efficiency, waste reduction, and work balancing (Lean tools: A3, Kaizen)
  • Becoming a Lean Tool Expert in applying problem solving, VSM, standard work, set up reduction, and other lean tools that emphasize reductions in waste and delivering value to Eaton’s customers.

Implementation of change through:

  • Evaluation of change notifications and a quick understanding of the impact to processes.
  • Project management of cross functional teams such as safety, controls, maintenance, material delivery and operators for process changes and necessary training.
  • Evaluate, improve and update PFMEAs per APQP guidelines, Work Instructions and Job Safety Analysis.
  • Developing and testing improved fail-safe strategies through part design, 3D printing and testing.
  • Responding to corrective actions to help drive continuous improvement
  • Coordinating and leading cost-out projects for assembly processes and components.

Active member of a cross functional Flow Line team to meet value stream goals and objectives.

Participate in capital planning, investigate equipment alternatives, prepare appropriation justifications, implement equipment, and evaluate results.

  • Support plant-level and corporate goals to lead implementation of Industry 4.0 technologies in the plant Assist in the implementation and deployment of actions to ensure compliance with all safety regulations as they apply to areas of responsibility. Participate in meeting plant Environment, Health, and Safety objectives.
  • Maintain a constant search for identifiable and measurable cost reductions through scrap analysis and technology applications. Work with operations, engineering technicians and maintenance technicians on day-to-day production issues.
  • Support the clutch assembly business during off-shift and weekend shifts, both in the plant and virtually, so that downtime is reduced, and production is maximized – as necessary.
  • Create and revise Process Drawings, Process Sheets, and routings both in Oracle and Matrix

Qualifications

Required (Basic) Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering, Mathematics, or Sciences
  • Working knowledge and experience manufacturing, specifically, knowledge and operation of assembly processes in a high-volume environment, Lean tools, assembly, blue-print reading, measurement systems, and working within a structured team environment.
  • Knowledge of the financial side of the business, specifically, departmental budgets and capital planning.
  • Design experience in ProEngineer or related CAD systems.
  • 3D printing experience.
  • Understanding of PLC related logic and controls.
  • Capability to conduct time studies and implement solutions for bottleneck improvements and line balancing.
  • Knowledge of statistical methods used to analyze process variations.
  • Knowledge of environmental laws and O.S.H.A. rules and regulation.
  • Lean Manufacturing knowledge.
  • Project Management knowledge

Additional Information:

  • Ability to adjust priorities to meet continuously changing schedules. Strong time management skills and ability to focus on high impact actions is required.
  • Ability to flex to off-shift coverage when required.
  • Coordination of projects involving many groups such as engineering, production, quality, tool design, EHS.
  • Good working relationships with peers, supervisors, operators, and managers must be maintained in order to be effective.
  • Assure that the efficiency of the plant and quality of the parts stay high through employee involvement.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
