Position Description:
Associate Director, Global Manufacturing Communications
The Associate Director, Global Manufacturing Communications is an important role within the Global Communications and Manufacturing team, focused on supporting the development and execution of internal and external communications aligned to the Company’s manufacturing strategy. The Associate Director supports the development and implementation of the Manufacturing Center of Excellence (COE) to elevate the value the communications function provides to the division.
This position reports to the Director, Global Communications, Manufacturing Division.
Scope of work and core responsibilities include:
Support the Manufacturing Division in a way that is proactive, inspirational, efficient, impactful and advances the manufacturing division’s strategy.
Support, contribute to and execute on a holistic content and editorial strategy, plans and messaging to create and promote stories internally and externally related to divisional programs and activities across our global network of sites that serve patients and society at large.
Work collaboratively and maintain strong partnerships with the broader Corporate Affairs team (Media Relations, Internal Comms, Policy, Animal Health and Human Health Communications, ESG) and other key stakeholders across the company to deliver holistic internal and external communications programs.
Provide crisis and issues management support as needed to protect and enhance the Company’s reputation.
Investigate innovative ways of connecting with stakeholders through new and novel storytelling and delivery of content, infusing internal and external communications with fresh approaches.
Collaborate with communicators supporting sites across our network and enable them to drive a unified content strategy.
Help establish measurable goals for execution of internal and external communications strategies and ensure progress is tracked to evaluate content performance and adjust accordingly.
Improve employee engagement through innovative storytelling that integrates our company’s narrative and contribute to position the Manufacturing organization as an employer of choice among current and prospective employees.
Position Qualifications:
Education Minimum Requirement:
Bachelor’s Degree with 8 or more years of communications experience OR
a minimum of a high school diploma with at least 12 years of equivalent experience which could include: communications, media, and/or military.
Required Experience and Skills:
A minimum of 6 to 8+ years of experience in creating and implementing successful strategic communications programs and operations, preferably within the consumer, manufacturing, health care and/or pharmaceutical industries.
Ability to produce clear, compelling, creative, motivating content and effectively and succinctly communicate complex concepts in a variety of formats and internal and external channels.
Strategic & proactive mindset, with demonstrated success in developing, managing and delivering innovative, best in class communication strategies and programs in a large, complex global organization.
Experience supporting senior executives and working with leadership teams.
Solid business insight and experienced translating business goals into proactive communications strategies to drive results.
Superior interpersonal communication, teamwork, collaboration, supervisory skills; values inclusion and diversity.
Ability to manage complex and sensitive information and communications while maintaining strict confidentiality; exhibits grace and calmness under pressure; is agile and adaptable.
Ability to instill trust and build relationships
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities.
Preferred Experience and Skills:
Knowledge of working within a highly regulated industry; deep business knowledge, solid understanding of manufacturing across a global enterprise.
