Job Description

We work in the local plant connected to our global manufacturing network to ensure the highest quality of raw materials, intermediates and finished products.

At our Company Manufacturing facility in Elkton, Virginia, we currently have a Manufacturing Automation Engineer position available. The successful candidate is primarily accountable for DeltaV upgrades associated with Lifecycle Management and Compliance. They will also develop the standards associated with these upgrades, and work with the automation team to ensure that standards, information, and best practices are published and available. The Engineer will also direct the Automation DeltaV team.

Tasks may include but are not limited to:

  • Provide automation sponsorship for DeltaV upgrades associated with Lifecycle Management and Compliance

  • Work with the Automation DeltaV Team to develop best practices and standards

  • Administer, create, and expand the site’s training DeltaV environments

  • Guide development of the automation DeltaV training program at our Company’s Elkton campus for automaton engineers

  • Provide training and serve as a mentor for junior engineers

  • Application of sound project management techniques to meet schedule, budget, benefit realization and other project objectives.

  • Assist with complex troubleshooting and design issues

  • Provide direct guidance for regulatory inspections and audits and other validation activities by serving as the subject matter expert

  • Assist in the development and review and approval of department SOPs and other site GMP SOPs related to automation and digital activities and adheres to established quality

Education:

Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Minimum of three years knowledge of pharmaceutical manufacturing automation

  • Expertise with DeltaV, Allen Bradley PLCs, PanelViews and associated interfaces

  • Familiarity with OSI PI and Infobatch

  • Expertise with Data Integrity and Compliance regulatory regulations

  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships with team, peers and area guides both locally and across multiple sites and divisional teams

  • Strong comprehension of manufacturing standards/ processes and ability to translate manufacturing and business needs into Automation/digital solution

Preferred knowledge and Skills:

  • Knowledge of GAMP standard

  • Lean Six Sigma comprehension

Working Relationships

  • Reports to the Associate Director Manufacturing Automation

  • Interacts with employees within own department, business stakeholders, and enterprise sponsored personnel

  • Interacts with representatives from regulatory agencies and external suppliers
