Job Description:

As a member of the Leidos Security Enterprise Solutions Manufacturing Organization you will be responsible for managing the production of sophisticated equipment utilized for inspection and security within airports and at border crossings. We have a worldwide customer base and a broad portfolio of products. We serve a dynamic and worldwide customer base. Our mix of products and production schedule changes often to meet ever changing market needs.

The Senior Manufacturing Manager is a high visibility role, requiring someone who has a deep understanding of manufacturing operations, excellent communication skills, the ability to adapt and learn quickly, and who is comfortable speaking with and entertaining high profile visitors (customers, executives, etc..) This role will manage a variety of production groups, along with our local Manufacturing Engineering team.

The roles and responsibilities may change from time to time without notice and include but are not limited to the roles described below.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage Manufacturing team located in our Vista, CA facility.
  • Manufacturing team consists of 3 groups. Aviation Assembly, Ports&Border Assembly, and Small Product Assembly/Repair. (Total of 25-30 employees)
  • Lead and manage a team of 4-6 Manufacturing Engineers. This team is responsible for production support along with New Product Introduction.
  • Maintain status information for projects and products that are in production.
  • Coordinate with Sales and Finance teams to establish and maintain production schedule.
  • Coordinate with Planning, Procurement and Logistics teams to ensure delivery schedule is met.
  • Maintain and monitor performance metrics.
  • Engage as needed with key suppliers on delivery or technical issues.

In addition:

  • Ensure all areas are in compliance with EHS guidelines
  • Ensure all documentation is maintained and updated
  • Provides primary input to hiring, firing, promotion, performance and rewards decisions for direct reports.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field and 10+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering or operations.
  • 5+ years experience leading manufacturing teams or projects.
  • Prior experience with the manufacturing of capital, security or aviation related products.
  • Experience in planning activities and vendor management
  • Ability to communicate effectively and efficiently, both in writing and verbally, to a wide-range of audiences
  • Ability to solve complex problems, often with limited information and guidance
  • Experience with MES and ERP tools
  • Possess one of the following certifications: Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Value Stream Mapping

Pay Range:

Pay Range $72,150.00 - $111,000.00 - $149,850.00

The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
