Eaton’s Vehicle Group North America is currently seeking a Manufacturing Technician / Machinist to join our Night Shift team. This position is based at our Kings Mountain, NC facility. Pay rate ranges from $21.42/hour - $26.18/hour. Night shift has a $0.25/hour shift differential.

Position Overview:

The Manufacturing Technician will support the manufacture of gears and shafts for an automotive facility supporting the Class 8 truck market.

The driving focus will be to set up and operate assigned machines and gaging equipment to process machined components from rough material for pre-heat treat processes, or heat-treated material for post-heat processes.

In this function you will:

  • Operate CNC lathe, CNC hob, CNC shaper, CNC shavers, deburring equipment, and/or Hard Turn lathe, and/or Hard Finish machines, as assigned.
  • Set up and operate assigned machines in a timely manner.
  • Produce and maintain all part characteristics according to specifications as well as visually inspect tools for excessive wear.
  • Select and install tooling as required by the process sheet for setup to manufacture the parts.
  • Obtain inspection from gear lab and, if necessary, readjust setup to obtain proper spline or tooth form, lead, involute, finish and/or size.
  • Inspect product samples for highest quality acceptance using proper inspection procedures and maintain S.P.C. charts, control plans, etc. as required.
  • Report unusual conditions, safety issues or defective material.
  • Adhere to all safety procedures, quality processes, and company policies
  • Perform minor and preventive maintenance when required.
  • Assist in maintaining an atmosphere of continuous improvement and team efforts for accomplishing plant goals by using our quality systems and environmental systems
  • Maintain work area housekeeping and assist in department/team housekeeping and 5S efforts
  • Complete daily tasks in compliance with standard work
  • Work a reasonable amount of overtime, including weekends and holidays as scheduled.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED from an accredited institution
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship
  • No relocation benefit is being offered for this position. Only candidates within a 50-mile radius of Kings Mountain, NC will be considered. Active Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Machine experience
  • Prior experience as a CNC Machinist (able to use the following tools and equipment: CNC lathe, CNC hob, CNC shaper, CNC shavers, deburring equipment, hard turn lathe, hard finish machine, part stamp, S.P.C. equipment, attribute gauging, O.D. Micrometers, bench centers, dial indicators, alignment fixtures measuring pins, robots.
  • Prior experience using hand tools such as wrenches, hammers, air hose, arbors, plug and cups.
  • Prior experience reading process sheets and drawings, and S.P.C. charts control

Position Criteria:

  • Able to lift up to 35 lbs. on a regular basis
  • Able to stand for up to 8 hours, with scheduled breaks
