Eaton’s Vehicle Group division is currently seeking a Material Handler to join our Materials team. This position is based at our Kings Mountain, NC facility.

Position Overview:

The driving focus of the Material Handler will be to support the Materials group to achieve plant distribution goals and sustain operational efficiency through material handling duties. This includes driving fork truck routes to maintain proper flow, distribution, and accuracy of materials and supplies in the entire plant (inside/outside)

In this function you will:

  • Operate a forklift to drive material routes to maintain proper flow, distribution, and accuracy of materials and supplies.
  • Validate and verify material and quantities for all parts; escalate inventory discrepancy concerns to supervisor.
  • Assist during changeover preparation by communicating with Operators/Lead and pulling materials ahead of changeover activities
  • Use your basic computer skills to understand and use the fork truck communication systems (FCS/ Oracle/ WMS) to facilitate manufacturing and inventory accuracy; submit help desk tickets for related IT issues
  • Work under time constraints while maintaining 100% accuracy of transactions
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records by completing the forklift safety audit at the start of every shift
  • Operate lifting aids and/or overhead hoists to manipulate and move parts
  • Be cross-trained and cover peers’ absences (including service packer)
  • Assist in on-the-job training for new employees.
  • Adhere to all safety and quality procedures, and company policies and guidelines.
  • Assist in maintaining an atmosphere of continuous improvement and team efforts for accomplishing departmental and plant objectives.
  • Watch for and report unusual conditions, safety issues, or defective material
  • Work as a team member to meet safety, quality and productivity goals and requirements
  • Maintain work area housekeeping and assist in department/team housekeeping and 5S efforts
  • Complete daily tasks in compliance with standard work
  • Perform work in a manner which supports Eaton’s Quality systems (QS, 9000, TS 16949, CQI-9), and Environmental system (ISO 14000).
  • Work a reasonable amount of overtime, including weekends and holidays as scheduled.
  • Unload and load trucks as they are coming into plant

Qualifications

Required (Basic) Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent from an accredited institution
  • Prior experience operating fork trucks or other powered industrial vehicles. Upon hire, must pass forklift examination and operate forklift in a safe manner.
  • Proficiency in inventory transaction integrity
  • Basic computer skills, including proficiency with Windows-based software
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship
  • No relocation is available for this position. Only candidates that currently reside within 50 miles of the Kings Mountain, NC facility will be considered

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience with the following software is helpful: Excel, Oracle, FCS, WMS, Premium Freight Database, UPS Website and Outlook
  • Prior experience in a manufacturing or assembly operation preferred
  • Good problem-solving skills
  • Strong verbal communication skills
  • Strong teamwork skills
  • Good attention to detail
  • Able to follow-through on assigned tasks

Position Criteria:

  • Able to lift up to 40 lbs. on a regular basis
  • Able to stand and walk
