Eaton’s Electrical Sector is currently seeking a Senior Material Handler - B Shift (Mon-Thur, 3p-1a) to join our team. This position is based at our Sumter, SC facility. The compensation for this role starts at $17.00 (plus $0.60 shift differential) based off of knowledge, experience, education, or specialized training.

Position Overview:

In the Senior Material Handler role, you will need to have the ability to read and comprehend parts drawings, M.I. routings, Bill of Ladings, travel documents, dock receipts and related materials documentation. Specific knowledge of Sumter processes and procedures related to steel and bus fabrication, purchasing, receiving, shipping, and inventory control is desired. A broad range of knowledge in materials planning, scheduling, receiving, shipping, and tracking systems is preferred. You will need to have specific knowledge related to AS400, and the Order Management System (OMS). Experience in MAPICS and Dynamic Machine Management (DMM) is a plus. Strong verbal and written communication skills, persuasive skills, and analytical problem solving skills with individuals and groups to facilitate process improvements within teams is a plus.

In this function you will:

  • Select and prepare paperwork, commercial invoices, custom papers, shipping lists, instruction booklet,
  • Utilizes AS400 and VISTA to ship/confirm product, in addition to sending advance shipment notices.
  • Work on projects and special assignments as required.
  • Support production line requirements as necessary.

Qualifications

Required (Basic) Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required from an accredited institution
  • Minimum of 1 year of manufacturing experience.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship.
  • No relocation benefit is offered for this position. Only candidates residing within the immediate are of Sumter county (50 Miles) will be considered for this position.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Computer skills including knowledge of AS400, Vista, and DMM. Must be able to operate fork trucks, yard trucks, hand trucks, hand carts, hand tools, banding machine, scales, safety equipment, etc.
  • Experience reading tape measures, blueprints and calipers. Proficient in various production operations including breakers, tapping, notching, and general knowledge of the fabrication process

Position Criteria:

  • While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; reach at or above shoulder level; grip; and use hands to handle and feel.
  • The employee is frequently required to walk; stoop; lift; carry; push; pull; and grip.
  • The employee is frequently required to lift/carry up to 35 pounds. The employee is frequently required to push/pull up to or greater than 35 pounds.
  • The vision requirements include far and close vision with depth perception and color discrimination.
  • While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to listen and to talk.
